The most important think to tell you is that hubby has now been sober since 13/06/2021 š„³
The last time I posted, I was talking about our proposed cruise at the beginning of Dec. Well we did not end up going in the š¢, but that was not our choice. Our PCRās did not come back in time and the cruise ship company refused to let us and about 20 other people, in the same situation, board the ship. So we have lost our money, but that is a whole other story. Maybe some will believe it was divine intervention of some sort, who knows.
Anyway hubby got through his first Xmas without a single drink. Ours was a very sober Xmas day as the majority of our family did not drink. Having grown up with an alcoholic dad our daughters rarely drink.
As for medical stuff. Hubby finally had his tilt test. He almost passed out but not quite. Dr said he thought that was to do with low blood pressure. Hubby saw the Elderly Care specialist who hubby had been referred to for the blackouts and he was the one who organised the tilt test. He thinks the blackouts were probably alcohol related. He has discharged hubby.
The dietician has stopped hubbys prescription for Aymes complete drinks, as hubby was 8st and is now 10 and a half stone. So she has discharged hubby as well.
Hubbys neuropathic pain and insomnia are the worst things he has at the moment. He is also still shaking in hands most days.
Hubby saw a Neurologist last month. He suggested getting hubbys dr to up his Pregabalin from 50mg to 75mg. The dr has had the letter but we are still waiting for her to review it. This specialist also looked at hubby for symptoms of Parkinsonās as hubbys father had that. He said he does not think hubby has Parkinsonās. He arranged for hubby to have a brain scan 24/12/2021. We are still awaiting the results of this.
Hubby has an appt with a Rheumatologist later this month to review his osteoporosis
Plus hubby has his next liver scan this month too ready for his Hepatology appt at the beginning of February
Well I think thatās everything. Happy New Year to you all x

That's a pity about the cruise but a weight off your mind. It would have been hard to convince hubby that a holiday is not also a holiday from abstinence. There is no such thing as "just one" drink when an addict wants to drink.
You've lost money but maybe added years to your hubbys life.
The weight gain is very good. Can you find him something to pass the time when he cannot sleep? reading, puzzles, a TV series?
Thank you for the update.
Hoping 2022 is a great year for the 5 of you

Well I hope it keeps going the way itās going forward and upwards, that was a big test for you all to get through Xmas and new year without hubby having a drink. Itās a shame about the cruise but that might have been one step to much we will never know, but for now Happy New Year š.Stay Safe All
It sounds like things have definitely moved on - and in the right direction! I hope they can get to the bottom of his neurological issues soon. Happy New Year to you both!
