So he is still dry and it will be 7wks tmrw.

He is really struggling not being allowed to drive, the Dr's said they would reassess his ability to drive again after 6mths.

He still has Insomnia, the Dr gave him a weeks worth of sleeping tablets but hubby says they did not work. So hubby has gone back to just sleeping when he can. This means he spends most of the morning in bed

Mood is much better, my closest family have all commented on how much happier hubby is. He still gets snappy but no where near as bad as he was

His appetite has started to return. He is great to see him eating again, he had lost over 2 stone and looks like a bag of bones with skin hanging off him. In actual fact he has even suggested that we go out for dinner a couple of times. We went for a carvery with family the other week and hubby had a huge plate full, cleared the lot, then had an ice-cream sundae and then finished mine and my daughters desserts as well. My mum was so chuffed that she took a photo of all of his empty plates and sent it to my sister

He still has shaky hands but no where near as bad as they were. He says his neuropathy seems to have improved a bit as well. However his back has been quite painful. Hubby is currently waiting for the results of his latest DEXA scan, as they think his Osteopenia has now progressed to Osteoporosis.

We are also awaiting the results of his latest Fibroscan, the technician commented that there wasn't much change from last time??? But not sure if that is good or bad news?

Hubby still has not had his tilt test yet, as they have changed the appt a few times now. This has then meant that the other specialist appts have also had to be changed, as they are awaiting the tilt test results.

Hubby has several up and coming appts in august. The first is with the Kidney team, as he blood results in June showed that he had dry kidneys, which they think was caused by the Spironolactone? Hubby then has an appt with the Liver team alcohol Dr, to discuss whether he needs to go on any medicine to help him to continue sustaining from alcohol? After that he has his next appt with his Liver specialist followed by the Elderly care specialist he is under for his black outs and then the tilt test, which hopefully wont get moved again.

Hubby is hoping that his liver will have started to repair itself now, but I am not sure, I think it is a bit too early for that?

Thank you for your continued support

Lisa

ps I went for my introductory counselling session last week and am going back again next week when I think the real counselling work will start?

oh dear, as if life wasn't complicated enough, hubby and one of our daughters have just tested positive for Covid19. They don't have the stereo typical temperature, cough or loss of taste/smell, they just have sore throats, but when they called the helpline they were told to get tested and have both come back as positive. Here's hoping their symptoms stay mild, as hubby has enough health issues and our daughter is about 5mths pregnant. Hubby has been double vaccinated but our daughter hasn't yet as her dr advised her not to while she was trying for a baby. However all over the news here in the UK yesterday the medical advice has definitely changed now

Oh Lisa 😱 Yes l heard on the news pregnant women can and should be vaccinated but since she sadly has the virus she probably can't just yet. Keep your head up honey .

Glad to hear things are improving. I’m currently doing a diploma in psychotherapeutic counselling and it is standard practice to have an initial session where the counsellor will get to know you, your situation and what your hoping to get from the therapeutic sessions. Best of luck.😊👍

Hi there,I have been wondering how things have been going for you.

Pleased that your hubby is still alcohol free, and his appetite sounds like it’s improving too.

Sorry to hear about Covid, hopefully they only have mild symptoms.

Take care xx

Well done you for getting your counselling on the way, and a big well done to hubby it’s so difficult to start with but if he can break the habit of drinking then stopping the drinking becomes a bit easier. I used to take a big breath of relief when 3in the afternoon came that was back in the days of pub hours. No he will start finding that there is lots of hours in the day, try to find a hobby or if he is good with his hands get those jobs done around the house but don’t push to hard. Don’t forget it’s a bumpy ride on the road hubby’s on so don’t get to down when he falls, good luck to the both of you 💕.Stay Safe All

Hi

Was going to say great to hear about your husband's progress then I read your 2nd update, however most people catching this new strain of Covid appear to have mild symptoms compared to last year. Fingers crossed both your husband and daughter will be OK and make a quick recovery. Also, so good to hear that hubby has been out socialising with no issues, was laughing at him eating so much when you were out as I used to get double portions of meals in my local hospital when in for treatment prior to transplant and was allowed due to my drastic weight loss.

Hope your counselling goes well and you feel the benefit soon, stay strong.
