Hi. My hubbies voice definately changed , it went higher and seemed to be clearing his throat alot more. I have no idea why though.
Take care.
Laura
Do you have strong acid reflux?
HiNo I don’t , I suffer from a very dry mouth especially through the night
Yes hubby always had a dry mouth and throat, always had water with him ... AFTER he had given up the booze. Also a glass of water beside the bed to sip during the night. But if you are concerned may be worth mentioning to your doc for reassurance.
I mentioned it to me gp but he was more concerned about my platelets as I have bleeding gums all the time now my gums have always been sensitive due to diabetes but this is quite annoying now waking up every morning with a dry mouth and blood in my mouth I’m still waiting for the results of blood tests As I can’t have the camera down again until this is sorted. Thank you for your response Lorraine
I guess other than keeping yourself hydrated theres nothing the doc can do for the dry throat etc. So l can understand why he would consider your platelets a bigger concern. Sorry you are suffering this and hope you can get some relief for your symptoms soon.
Thank you, I just worry there’s something else
What’s acid reflux got to do with it
I think there's a very good chance that it is stress related. This happened to me many years ago and is a result of too much tension in the upper back area. I had to go for voice coaching lessons (my job depended on it) and surprisingly the upper back tension can lead to a problem with your false vocal chords. Who knew? I get this occasionally and find that my shoulders have crept up around my ears (without me realising!!!). The best way to tackle it (if this is what is wrong) is to lift the shoulders as high as you can, then relax them. Then make sure before you speak, to breathe from lower down in the chest, most people take too shallow a breath.
If this is the cause, then you can probably find more detailed advice about how to use your voice better online. I hope this is helpful. I was advised to practise certain techniques every day for a certain amount of time, so that my body learned how to use my voice better. This means that when it does reoccur, you know what to do. I hope this works for you. It's something to try at least. All the best.
Oh my God... how flippin' clever 👍
My dad had this very badly, coughing and sore throat for months, lost his voice eventually. Turned out to have fluid in the lungs pushing up from fluid in the stomach. Once drained he was able to speak much better.
my dad had a cough, then eventually lost his voice..turns out he had fluid build up from stomach up to his lung or more precisely the space between the lungs. It took like 4 months to figure it out. Now he gets this drained and helps temporarily, as his situation is bad the fluid builds up quickly.
