Hubby has just finished all tests for run up to t/list, all was fine until dec when he was admitted to local hospital where the dimer bloods came back high again they were looking for a clot, none found, ct scans were sent to liver doc who requested his own ct with contour which were done last week, these have come back with a 2cm change so possible cancer (mri now booked) anyone else got to this stage prior to finally getting on t/list ? Cirrhosis since 2017 Nash decompsated since may 2020

It's going to be a bit of a waiting game till all those tests are completed.

If hubby fits criteria for transplant (i.e. he's poorly enough) and is fit enough to get through the op then he should be listed.

If it turns out the 2cm 'change' is a cancerous lesion it will depend on it's position. People with liver cancer do indeed get listed and have liver transplants but it does depend on size, number and location of lesions and the possible danger of 'seeding' during the transplant i.e. sending cancerous cells round the rest of a body which will then have difficulty fighting it off due to post transplant immune suppression.

Listing criteria where HCC is involved :-

A lesion must be seen on 2 forms of imaging with typical characteristics to count as HCC.

The size of a HCC will be the larger of the two if there is a discrepancy. The listing criteria

at present are:

Single tumour<5cm diameter or

Up to 5 tumours all < 3cm or

Single tumour between 5 and 7cm with no evidence of progression (<20% volume

increase) over a six month period. Locoregional therapy or chemotherapy may be

given at this time.

AFP <1000 U/l

But, you arn't there yet so don't panic, the 'change' could be something completely benign like a extra dense bit of cirrhotic tissue (my hubby had this show up on ultrasound and they sent him for an MRI to rule out cancer) or something like a haemangioma (again my hubby has several of these in his liver).

Hopefully all is going to go well and hubby will get listed a.s.a.p.
