Suddenly started with mild itching last night. Not had this before. Any clues? Will it go? Anybody know how I can treat it etc?

Hi

Yes, this seems to be a common symptom. I take fexofenadine 180mg, it's pretty good. Take care Lynne

Are you going to the drs or at having your bloods done? Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Lynne

After my last trip to see my consultant I've been feeling deflated after the CT still hasn't highlighting what's going on!

I may have these 4 emergency blood test forms but the two recent bad turns could have been caused by something else plus they happened just as the weekend approached and bloods couldnt been done. I'm going to wait until things are in full mode if you get my drift re further bloods ...

Thanks for your concern ❤.

Yes, I understand. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx

Docs won't prescribe them. Said I have to be jaundice. There's nothing they can do by sounds. Shocking tbh

Good Morning Chris

Lynne's recommendation is one of the good ones but unfortunately you cannot buy the medication from over the counter and therefore I suggest you make an appointment to see your doctor to discuss your new symptoms as they maybe be related to Liver issue's.

I too suffer with itchy skin but unfortunately the cause of my unknown autoimmune disease is yet to be diagnosed after almost 2 years of numerous CT/MRI scans and monthly blood tests , please try not to worry!

Hi Chris,

Can you get to your doctors this week? they will be best placed to examine you and safely prescribe an appropriate treatment.

We hope the itching stops soon

Trust everytime I go they never seem to listen. Liver nurse said take antihistamines they don't work. It's a right game tbh

I also suffer from itchy skin. It is one of the signs of my jaundice. See your doctor or consultant asap, to rule things out.

I'm not jaundice tho. I spoke to doc yesterday. Said there's nothing they can do

Even without being jaundice your bilirubin might be creeping up, have you had bloods done recently ?

I’m sorry you’re bothered with itchiness. It can be scary to think it’s liver related and anxiety can worsen the itch. Scratching also worsens itch but it’s a reflex so difficult to hold off scratching, but worth it if you can. My itching is v mild by most standards and usually means my skin’s too warm or I ate too much sugar. It has always calmed down when I deal with these 2 things. I think sometimes doctors can’t give us any medicine that helps and it all rests on how they put that across. They can be positive and supportive. I hope yours will be too if you explain your fears and discomfort. Best wishes. Stay cool. Kay it gently on the line!😉

I would see another gp as you don't have to be jaundiced to be prescribed Fexofenadine I was taking it before I got to that stage. I still have to take it now after TP but it's for another ailment that old age brings.

Have you tried creams with menthol I use Dermacool 2.0% menthol it might be worth giving it a go. I do sympathise with anybody who is suffering itching it drives you to despair.

Good luck hope you find some relief.

Hi Chris. My Dad went through bouts of itching. Explanation was bile salts in the skin.

in reply toPurple-Qi31

Hi thanks for reply. Has your dad got rid of his jaundice now?
