I don’t recall if I ate blueberries yesterday, but I know my kid did and I may have popped a couple to help him finish them off. I just can’t recall. Anyhow, I had some dark/black bits mixed in with the lovely, regular brown today. It was mostly brown. And it wasn’t sectioned off (a black portion and then a brown portion), it was mixed in. It seemed to glisten but was not really sticky looking.
When others have had blood in their stool, has it been the entire stool, or was it a bit here and a bit there? One section? Mixed in? Or a ton of black?
I don’t feel weak or light headed and don’t think my blood pressure has dropped. I have an endoscopy and colonoscopy scheduled a week out. It seems sensible to wait and see if it repeats right? I’m sure I’m worrying over nothing here.
I’m not gonna eat blueberries for a while lol.

If you see the post "boredom and blueberries" a couple of people have described how to recognise " malaena" . Wass71 has given a detailed description if that helps.
Hi scutmike If your thinking blood.in my case with having cirrhosis I knew something was up prior to all the bleeds I’ve had.i became really poorly hours before.when i last bled.my stool was totally black and loose.and I knew instantly what it was.one of the signs of liver disease is that your stool becomes beige so for it to turn black that’s when I panicked and went to hospital.but if your in any doubt make sure you get it checked.paul
Thanks Paul. This is sage advice. I’m pretty sure it’s all gonna be fine. I have an endoscopy and colonoscopy scheduled for next Monday. I just want to be sure I don’t need to go to the hospital before then. If it’s clearly black and tarry I won’t hesitate.
The last time this happened (pretty dark poop) I had a mild panic and then remembered I had blueberries and special K (100% days worth of iron) for a meal, and told myself to settle down. My poo returned to brown.
I’m not diagnosed with anything (normal bloods, normal CT report despite liver 16.3 cm which is just above upper normal range), but I have liver like symptoms that are troublesome. No pale/clay stools or dark urine, but have had a rectal bleed (blood in stool) that I suspected was from a hemorrhoid. Getting it all checked out though in a week regardless!
Your welcome I had a similar experience with beetroot.really good for you but when you look at your stool you automatically think ,shit.pardon the pun! Lol.but seriously with cirrhosis you’ll try and eat anything to try to reverse the disease.best wishes.paul
Thanks you guys. Everything turned out normal today during the morning BM. Lots of lovely plain brown. Gotta get ready for my endo and colonoscopies on Monday to confirm it all.
You all are immensely helpful, and I truly appreciate your input!!!
Amazing when we were younger how much we never would have thought that at some point down the road we would take such peace of mind and relaxation from seeing a prefectly shaped brown torpedo sinking to the bottom of the toilet water. Lol everyday I see that is another morning that I smile and think "not today liver disease, not today". ☺
