I'm sorry to put this I've felt unwell for 4 day. My throats a bit sore and my liver seems to hurt and my body hurts and yesterday I passed a lot of blood in my stool. I've got overlap AIH and pbc not sure what stage that is. Many thanks Kind regards Sharon.

This needs checking Sharon, could be liver related or other issues. Loss of blood from the back passage definitely needs checked out by doctor and if it is ongoing or you have black tarry poo it is an A&E job - might have an internal bleed in bowels or other bit of digestive tract. Don't mess about with it.

That's a bit mad, my hubby was passing blood in his stool and it was a precursor to a massive upper GI bleed from burst varices. Whilst it could be piles or a simple anal tear or something similar it sounds very wrong that blood tests were all that was ordered. No physical exam down below I take it?

Hi,is the blood fresh or black tarry?red blood could be many but less serious things even a polyp GP first but dark (black) then A&E to be safe

If its a decent amount of blood, I'd honestly would have gone to an ER. Given PBC and a recent bought with AIH. Since its been 15 hours ago, I'd at least call your doctor and let them know.

Defo get it checked wishvuvall the best.xx

Please get this checked out. The very least they should do is examine where the sun does not shine so to speak! If you get no sense from the GP, then I would go to A & E, it could be a tear down below, but it could be a sign of internal bleeding. I have AIH and had tarry stools (they stick to your bottom and are black), which turned out to be an upper GI bleed and needed immediate treatment. You should not be afraid to ask for more than a blood test. Get someone to go with you if necessary. I hope it is something minor rather than major. All the very best :)

I agree with those that say go to ER and get this checked! It's no joke to pass large amount of blood. Best wishes

Blood in your stool is VERY common, especially if you are drinking alcohol, alcohol irritates your stomach, bowels, etc. There is many causes such as diet, lack of fiber, etc. If your stool is black it means its in the upper intestinal tract which can be more serious. Bright red its right at your rectum and very common. Lack of water makes your stool hard which "irritates" when you have a bowel movement. If its a few drops here and there probably nothing to woory about I am almost 28 and have blood in my stools on and off depending what i eat, diet, exercise etc. If you are over 50 years old the bleeding could be caused by polyps which could be cancerous, however most people bleeding out their bum bum either push too hard when having a bowel movement, dont eat enough fiber, dont drink enough water, eat crappy and dont get off their butts and exercise. To sum up the answer, bright red rectal bleeding is not an immidiate cause if concern. If it were liver related would be black not bright red

Also colonscopy aint that big of a deal, i did one just to be safe because i had blood but came back clear. As you age its best just to get a coloniscopy anyway especially if you have a lot if bright red blood which could be polyps. If your isured, suck it up and get a colonoscopy, you evacuate your bowels for a day, they use anesthetia your in and out in a few hours, have tgem go through your butt and your mouth to check "everything" not a big deal to get colonoscopy. side effects for me is i felt irritated in my bowels for a few weeks after the procedure. Hope you get well, eat fruits, stay hydrated, limit junk food, etc. I drink a swig of apple cider vinager which helps alkaline my body so i can eat a little more acid producing junk food. Get well, keep pressing your doctor and request more than a 15 minute appointment, they work for YOU dont let them get away with a 5 minute "you look ok" checkup
