Just a quickie, I have just received copies of the results from my LFTs so that I can show the consultant and after eating a healthy diet and losing weight and exercising my Doctor said everything was improving. ELF now in normal range and ALT dropped although not back in normal range.
My query is this, on my test results, bilirubin was normal when I first had tests done but when they improved it got worse but not by much admittedly. The Doctor never mentioned this so I assume it isn’t necessarily an issue. I will ask him when I see him in a few weeks time. Has anyone had any experience of this and/or know roughly what the bilirubin bit is?
Thanks

It’s the one that makes you jaundiced, if it’s above 20, could be a problem with your red blood cells. If you look up Gilbert’s Syndrome on the Liver Trust site, you’ll find lots of information.
Bilirubin is the waste product from broken down blood cells - rises if we get an infection or similar. I have a blood condition that leaves my bilirubin at a permanent 50-ish - doesn't do any harm - possibly makes me drop asleep if I relax in a chair for any length of time.
