Bilirubin

Hi All. I got a phone call from my GP yesterday saying she was concerned my bilirubin was continuing to rise. She told me the result, but my question to you all is - what has been your highest bilirubin result?? I know the normal range is 2 - 21. Thanks.

217, looked like Trump.

Thank you that eases my concerns. I'm only in double figures!

in reply toAuds5

Hopefully a warning shot across the bows, discuss it with your Doctor and at the very least, do dry January.

I have a new liver.

Good luck,

Mark

Thanks for your reply Mark but I've been diagnosed with AIH & PBC since 2015 and dont drink so it not alcohol that's causing my bilirubin to rise.

in reply toAuds5

Thanks for letting me know, as you are aware, it’s a good idea to keep an eye on all aspects of your health if you are having liver issues. Good luck with bringing it down, I am around 10 now.

in reply to

Blurry ell mark you sound very mature for your age...

in reply to

It's a funny thing Snoutie, you looked like Trump but he doesn't drink, he prides himself on the fact that he only had 1 beer in his lifetime and didn't drink it all. He gets his glow from the Sun in Florida playing golf.

in reply to

Sophia,

Happy 2019 and I trust you had an excellent break ? I am fully aware of Herr Trump’s preference for Diet Coke, never touched a full drop in his life.

I was using him as a well known public figure, to illustrate the effects that elevated bilirubin can have on ones pigmentation. I always avoid the sun and use a high factor sun block.

Like Herr Trump, I have a Scottish-German ancestry, not sure where he got Sweden from, do you?

Anyway good luck in 2019 and I sincerely hope that your liver issues continue to improve.

My kindest regards,

Mark

in reply to

Yes, I know you were trying to use his skin pigmentation as an illustration but too much sun on the skin is a little different than high bilirubin. levels. Good luck to you and I hope you continue on the right path for 2019.

in reply to

I humbly stand corrected x

In future I shall say that I had been Tango’d, perhaps more accurate.

LOL..let it go

Hahaha, it looks like he gets his tan straight from a bottle (of self tan). He was on telly the other day and it looked like he'd missed a bit. The sides of his forehead near to his temple area were distinctly pale, lol.

in reply toKristian

That tan comes from taxpayers, he is always golfing in Florida, him and that wife with those small eyes. When you see that tan, trust me it came from him being twisted to the side playing golf with that big ass in the air.

in reply to

Apologies Sophia but as this is a British forum and an ass is a donkey over here, the correct phraseology would be arse.

in reply to

Apologies Snoutie, but last time I looked this forum was open to the world. Run along and do have a nice productive day.

in reply to

Indeed, everyone is welcome and health has no boundaries. The fact remains however, that this is a British forum based in Bournemouth. I wish I could run, that would be a bonus. If you and your liver can, I take my hat off to you.

in reply to

Well, Snoutie since you can't run, have a productive day and sitting there going back and forth with me explaining where this site is located when it clearly says British Liver Trust at the very top isn't being very productive.

in reply to

Perhaps I could assist in building your wall, does Festung America have any jobs going? Good payroll numbers in December. Thanks for that, made me a few quid.

Perhaps, as you are on the forum, would be more than happy to assist with any questions you may have related to your, as yet specified, Liver diagnosis?

in reply to

Congrats! Snoutie, you are being productive, using that mind to think of ways to make money.

Take a chill pill guys, its not that important. To be honest I quite like the comparison. It painted a great picture in my head and that's all that really matters. Humour is a great healer and long may that continue on this forum.

GP is going to contact my Consultant as she thinks it's a flare up of the AIH. But least I've got comfort over the weekend from this forum as my numbers are only double digits. Can I ask what caused yours to be so high?

I appreciate that this must be s really anxious time for you and I wish you well in your recovery. If your consultant had told you she I’d concerned then you must take her advice. She will be the one to discuss this with as lots of different reasons may be involved as to why your Bilirubin has risen. If you’re pancaking then I’d suggest that you, if you are listed, speak to a transplant coordinator. I’m sorry if I come across as unhelpful but I, personally, would not like to speculate or suggest that your numbers are abnormal compared to me be. I know how very difficult all of this is to deal with but I’m glad that you’ve posted and do keep posting. My very best wishes.

564. I was very poorly and looked like I would do well as a shipping beacon. I had a transient liver injury resulting (we think) from penicillin!

Mine was usually between 35 & 55. Highest was 94, but that was during a bit of an acute illness that had me in the ICU. I had a nice chuckle at the descriptions people had for themselves earlier so will add mine. Now you'll have to picture that i'd had various lines in my neck here at this stage so hadn't shaved for a bit and my hair was all over the place and I had bright orangey-yellow eyes, I remember telling someone at the time that I looked like a demented yeti. For most of the time though I wasn't that yellow, more pasty pale and grey. But, as you can see my bilirubin was rarely that high. (And now the compulsory apology to BLT for posted test results, lol. Sorrrrry BLT :-) )

Auds5 profile image
Auds5 in reply toKristian

Thanks Kristian for your reply. When I was in hospital I was yellow but was never told what my bilirubin was. Been told my bilirubin is rising now (only double digits tho) but I'm more like what you described as grey and pasty. Hope your doing ok now. Take care.

Not sure what mine was in the hospital but the highest it was otherwise was a month after and it was 22 umol/L

Auds5 in reply to

Thanks PhoenixPalazzo. I'm the same in that I would love to know my hospital results as I was yellow then! All the best.
