Hi Midha. I’m glad you had your phone call yesterday. I’m also on the waiting list at Addenbrooks. Had my original transplant there 23 years ago. It is a fantastic center there and we will both be well looked after there when our time comes.

Hi, Getting acceptance onto the transplant list is the first and only thing you should be worrying about right now. If you get the nod, then things start to become a little bit surreal. How long will I wait (Me 18 months), what will recovery look and feel like ( Unfortunately i can’t help you there, my procedure was aborted due to a major haemorrhage), you will have so many things going through your head that at times will seem just too much. Avoid googling anything as according to them I have probably got every disease known to man. Use this forum to ask someone who has probably been or is going through the same as you. Most of all just be grateful that you have the chance to start all over again.

It takes a bit to get used to it. Then, if your like me, when they DID call I was stunned! Just make sure you always have a suitcase packed!

Cheering you on!

Thank you....it really helps me knowing that I am no alone. Family and friends are fantastic but it's hard for them so I kind of keep it in.

Prepare yourself mentally read through what will happen and know that you will be in the best place with the best drs and nurses. If you are worrying have worry time every day for 10 mins then put it aside. till the next time you can worry about it. Try to put aside the what if thinking and deal with the facts that you can be in control of. This is saving your life so its an amazing thing they are doing for youand it will be fine. Try to do relaxation you can find some app get some head space or just listen to relaxing things on you tube like meditations to calm yourself and take headphones and music into the hospital withyou when you go. Breath deeply when you feel scared into the tummy notice where you are tense and loosen this a bit...and breath!! Do postiive visualisations for the new liver and place your hand on your old liver and say goodbye and thank you...the same with the new one. Tell yourself you allow the drs to operate on your body.Good luck.
