Thank you for your reply and answer. It makes sense. Just another factor to this unpredictable disease.

Hi lorraineLouise.i am very much the same, only my sleeping pattern is all over the place. I am still awake. Yet I nodded off on the sofa as I always do without even knowing and can be asleep for a good two hours,

Now I have woken up I'll be awake now for another couple of hours .then I go to bed when it's light yet I can be either wide awake around 9pm or I'm that tired I can't get out of bed..it really messes up your entire life to be honest. My memory is not as good either 😒. Seems it is all part of this disease. 🙄..

It is common in cirrhotic patients to have day/night reversal. To be a bit sleepy during the day and then get a second wind, just as normal people hit the sack. I've read a few articles about it and for the life of me, I can't find one now, but I will get one and post it.

Thank you. I would find that very interesting. Also would be. Ice to show to friends and family who just don't understand.

RHGB , as Lorraine mentioned, that would be so so helpful if at all you could find and post one .Not just for my family but for me to get to grips with this not normal life .. on how I wished the Dwp could spend a day in our shoes .

Okay, I didn't find the article I wanted, but here is a bit to being going on with. I would have like to explain it in more depth, but I've had a busy day and I'm tired now. I will aim to come back with some more.

Our body is ruled by the SCN carcadian clock/rhythm.

Before anyone just says that is a simple day/night system, it is much more than that and the example (that I will try to explain tomorrow) makes sense.

This first article is very long and very technical. To start with, I suggest you scroll down to; sleep-wake regulation in patients with cirrhosis.

onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi...

You need to understand melatonin and sleep function.

sleepfoundation.org/sleep-t...

Note the bit about jet lag, which is mentioned in the first article earlier on.

A bit about SCN.

Yr never alone, especially when it comes to crazy sleeping and scratching! Lol. I bleed from scratching so hard, and I'm on high hospital type injection blood thinner doses, twice daily! Ugh.

Weather, reversal of day and night sleeping, all pretty standard stuff!

Have u tried Colestyramine for itching?

I strongly recommend wearing Gloves (soft ones... The one u would use for nourishing your hands) at NIGHT and even during the DAY if u can't distract yourself

I belive it saved my life 🤗

Good Luck my Lovely 😘😘😘

Hi

My Dr prescribed fexofenadine for itching and it has really helped. Please take care xxxx

Thanks guys..I'm on two different ones. One has menthol in it, prescribed by my head consultant at Addenbrookes, and the other is cetraben, prescribed by my GP. He uses that one himself for his psoriasis and bad itching.

I'll ask about the others though! Thanks!

Ps. I have such bad edema from the tips shunt it pulled the skin so taunt it broke it and it weeps a lot..this also causes major itching. Sigh. My legs used to be so pretty, not too brag, but they along with the rest of my skin is ruined and dry. I have aged years. I always looked like 15 years younger, so much so only young guys would hit on me. But I prefer men my age or older. I guess I finally look my age, but it happened so fast from getting sick. Lol. Such is vanity and life! Huh, ladies? Hugs,

Kimberly
