Hi
How are you feeling tonight ? Are you home now? Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
Hi sweetie, I'm in the local hospital back in Belfast, despite diabetes being very well controlled pre surgery the steroids have sent it haywire n I've been started on insulin..so keeping me in yp stsbalise dosage n observation for few days ..but as far as liver goes, surgeons never been happier xxx hope all well with you too xx
You've done so well and you will be home soon. Love and hugs Lynne xxxx
Thanks Lynne x
Hi i became diabetic after transplant and had to go on insulin after my high blood sugars. Came off insulin when steriods stopped but after getting cmv infection and steriods starting again now back on insulin hopefully as teriods stop again will come off insulin again. Those pesky steriods have alot 2 answer 4 ha.
Same here I was diabetic before transplant but steroids sent my blood sugars up with the gods got them sorted after a long while now I have nerve damage . I too got cmv, back in hospital for 10 days back on steroids and 2st heavier. Not best pleased ! Hopefully you can get off the insulin again. Good luck.
Hi steak and thanks for this reassurance ..my hba1c was NEVER above 7 in my life pre transplant, post on taking steroids it had bern shooting up to and spiking at 26 π₯πΏπ€¬ but they are watching my sugars n adjusting insulin so now a much more manageable 17 r below, still too high but better than they were by far. As my liver disease is auto immune PBC I will remain 9n steroids 5-7.5 mg of prednisolone for the rest of my days so I guess they will watch and wait n see how things settle. God to know you had similiar issue..well NOT GOOD as such but reassuring that it can happen..continued good health to you and thanks again for the reply xx
Wow, you are a superman!! Such lovely, great news for you and your family. Take it easy.
Best wishes

Absolutely fantastic, take it easy let you self build your strength back.
Then plan you next holiday!
David
Sounds like a good plan David. I've always wanted to go to Japan. In a couple of years I think.
I went on my first full holiday this year, 15 months post transplant it was a great feeling to be back to normal.
I went away for a short break after 7 months. It took 6 months to get the insurance
U have done really well take it easy remember baby steps. 7 was ur Lucky number. Onwards and upwards now .
Thanks Steak. Bit of a shock really.
I bet it was but u have a new liver now so worth all those other calls that didn't go ahead. It had 2 be the right liver and now it's happened so glad for u and family. I was told that u don't realise how ill u were before transplant the tiredness etc. I was extremely jaundiced b4 my transplant hrs after my son cudnt get over how my eyes were much clearer. My bilirubin was about 166 and after op was down in the 20s and now it's about 6. X
I didn't really have any jaundice throughout really and I was extremely lucky with underlying HE but I felt constantly rinsed out , energy first thing in the morning but that didn't seem to last. Everything was a frustrating challenge. Interestingly my wife told me that I now smell like her husband again. She described me,my bedroom ,bed llinin and clothes having a sort of sweet smell but not offensive. She didn't want to tell me pre TP
Tell me, when was your transplant and how have you been since?
Coming up to 7 months this month. Been good until I got the cmv infection recently spent a week in chorley hospital adjusted my meds and was on an antibiotic drip 4 a few days. Now cmv is negative.
Hi Maxey,
my husband had had that sweet smell to the bed linen,.etc. I was told that it was the by products as the body autodigested when you went in the decompensated phase. It is an odd smell ,it occurs overnight when the body needs carbs to breakdown into glycogen.
Funnily that you lost made me think of this. I now look forward to a time when that smell is no longer there as he had his transplant last Monday.
Most importantly well done on your phenominal recovery.
Take Care
Marie

I'm doing really well thanks. I feel 20 years younger. I had no idea I would feel this amazing after transplant but I guess it just signifies how crap I felt/was.
Still got plenty of healing ahead of me and weekly bloods at Kings. To be honest I feel like a new man. Hope alls good with you my friend.
