thats good that you have no pain. how did doctor find out you had gallstones. if they are not bothering you i would leave well alone. as some people feel worse after getting their gallbladder removed. i'v yet to find out. but i was in constant pain before i had it removed and stones in the bile duct also. try and eat a well balanced diet and a good diet for your liver.

Hi Buddy. I've read that doctors only worry when hand palms are red 24/7. Mine go from red/pinky blotchy, itchy tingling sometimes painful. They never are normal. My lfts ARE normal lol. Just waiting for an us appointment. Is there something your using maybe a soap thats causing an allergy? You have my sympathy as its horrible to have. Sam .

Thanks Giles. I've just looked up liver dysfunction symptoms and 80 % of them I happen to suffer from. When your liver function tests are normal( I've been told mine are 'good') you think you're going mad. Now to read up on what I can do to aid my poor liver!

In my case, I didn't get this till towards the very end of my cirrhosis (just before my transplant) and after experiencing many years of other symptoms. As the others have said, it be down to any number of things, particularly if you haven't had any other symptoms or diagnosis of liver disease. Like Grace, I would be considering contact dermatitis or allergy, do you wear rubber/silicon gloves in work or doing dishes/gardening, what do your hands come into contact with? (soil, chemicals or sand).

Probably best to get it checked out though.

Mike

Hi Bud. I had red itching palms for a few years before diagnosis Sept 2015. I remember one doctor commenting on them years ago but it was explored. If only I'd known.

Good luck. I'm glad you have become aware of them. Take care. 😃

Sorry, I meant it wasn't explored.

I have read the itching comes from bile that has risen to the surface of the skin. I have it. I have it lots of areas of my body, it comes and goes depending on how well the liver is functioning. That can change from day to day. I use apple cider vinegar. It works for me.

how much cider vinegar do you use, and how can it help

Catfishjumpin profile image
Catfishjumpin in reply to buddymac48

Pour it sraight onto your hands and let it dry. You can soak your hands in it too like for 10-30 minutes. I try to breath and relax because if I tense up and get frustrated then it gets worse. Sometimes I mix it with coconut oil so it sticks to my skin like lotion. Its apple cider vinegar organic but I bet other vinegars work also just maybe not as well.

i also drink some apple cider vinegar with the mother in it, its organic bratts apple cider vinegar. one of the best places to apply it to, is the soles of the feet as that is one of the places that is very good and taking things into the body and expelling them as well. i read an article a long time ago about a man who rubbed garlic on the soles of his feet and you could smell it from his breath after that. i use a straw when i sip a little apple cider vinegar to protect the enamel on my teeth.thats very helpful informatin about the tiger balm also. keep well catfish jumping you are in my thoughts and prayers. love grace xoxo

That's all great. We both very much believe in ACV with the mother. Yes I do soak my feet in it. Ever soaked a bad burn with it, heals it 100% Mine is Braggs. Thanks for reminding me to sip it and soak feet in it😀 I often think of you too. Keep strong.

yes mine is braggs also i keep calling it bratts. i'v never had a burn but i will bear that in mind.acv is good for so many things. like you say digestion as well. love grace xoxo🖐

great idea about the coconut oil so that it stick to the skin.

Oh yes, how it help: it goes into the blood stream, our bodies are covered in blood vessels, it goes straight into them and fights the bacteria the bile produces that causes the itching. If I have any elimination problems, my itching is worse. Once my digestion problems are gone and my gut and bowel are empty, the itching goes away. We are having a tropical storm. It has caused my liver to stagnate and digestion is slowed and I woke itchy with my liver swollen and hurting badly. I rubbed it with Tiger Balm. Its much much better. I used vinegar too on other itching areas. Storm pressure or rain, cold, damp all cause my liver to get hard, swollen then I itch. Hope this helps you.

thank you i will try this

grace111 profile image
grace111 in reply to buddymac48

you can also drink some. about a teaspoonful in some water, before food as it helps digestion, make sure its organic and cold pressed the best one to get it braggs because it must have the mother in the vinegar.and give the bottle a good shake before you use it to make sure its well mixed. i watched a video on apple cider vinegar on utube and its amazing the things that its used for. some people use it on their face and it helps acne. as it does kill bacteria. obviously you wouldnt put it on your face if you were just going to go out, but at night time when cleansing, it has so many uses. i even use vinegar. not the apple cider one but cheap ordinary vinegar for cleaning if iv made a casserole and burnt the container. its great for bringing widonws up and mirrors with an extra sparkle if you add a little to the last rinsing water. its good for athlets foot as well.

In my case both legs are itchy and the itch stops when I rub a mixture of half a tea spoon full of sodium bicarbonate and water to make a paste.

I have learned that the source of itching is the liver and I have to see my GP
