Query re blotchy palms

Are liver palms constantly red/blotchy, or does it come and go?

My palms often look *completely normal*, but then the blotchiness appears when my hands are cold or if I wash them. I am menopausal and have read that hormones can cause red burning palms too, so I'm trying to work out what could be causing this. The blotchiness is like red areas with white blotches, it's very odd.

I've had blood tests etc, but I'm just looking specifically for info about the palms.

Hello,

I'm afraid I don't think anyone on this forum is going to be able to help you with this as we are not medically qualified.

Hopefully your GP will be able to shed some light on the reason for the intermittent blotchiness.

regards

Thanks. It was more a query as to what others have experienced. I know only too well that GPs dont have a lived experience of most things, and I wondered what people's experience is of the red palms

Hi

I have compensated cirrhosis. Fatty liver diagnosed in 2016 was caused by meds from my drs over the years. Then Nash in November 2016 after a biopsy. Cirrhosis was diagnosed in February this year after a fibroscan. Take care and stay safe Lynne

Hi I had blotchy hands like this for years whilst I was drinking but since giving up alcohol 17 week ago and eating a very healthy diet I’ve never noticed it since

Interesting - thanks. Do you have a liver diagnosis at all? Mine are also way better than before - I eat much healthier and have a drink only every few weeks.

They are still blotchy if I exercise or do some DIY type of thing.

No diagnosis just a lot of worry! I’ve had abnormal bloods a fair bit over the years (due to alcohol which I’m not proud of) although they are all within range now and a normal ultrasound, however I still suffer terribly from back pain around my liver area which stresses me out!

Yes sometimes I see odd blotches mainly depending on things like temp or exercise but I no longer associate them with potential liver problems anymore

same - I have fatty liver, due to alcohol (and possibly due to gallbladder removal) and then the knock-on effect of weight gain, then high cholesterol etc :/

I do feel much more relaxed about it all, now that I've made some changes
