I sign transplant list on the 9th of February, it certainly feels like it's a million miles away. Think I am feeling every emotion going. Reason for this post is I suffering with toothache but paracetamol not touching it, if I remember we can't have anything stronger just wondering if I am correct in that??

Not sure but if I recall i was given Tramadol before my transplant and part from the itching I was ok. Phone up Leeds the transplant nurses will advise you on this. Also when i signed my transplant form I was told that I had to visit my dentist first for clean and polish etc as your teeth hygene has to be good. All to do with the operation, and tubes etc so no infection gets in. Not saying you have bad hygene etc lol. just letting you know procedure. Hope your toothache gets better soon -nothing worse especially on top of everything else. Good luck :) x

My husband gets tired and pissed off with being my carer as well it's only natural. He takes time out for himself and one of my friends will take me out or chill at mine. He also goes and spends a night out once a month. Could his friends or family help you out?

Hi Roll on! I know painkillers are forbidden in this condition. And about your transplantation I bet it will go superb. I know people who looked pale and ill but after their transplantation I found them more healthy. Take care of yourself, eat well and think positive. My prayers are with you :)

Oil of cloves perhaps? it numbs the pain a bit though taste vile.

You might try organic apple cider vinegar or hydrogen peroxide. If peroxide do not swallow it, rinse mouth afterwards. What I do is hold either not both in my mouth so the pressure of the liquid is over the bad tooth for 3 full minutes. Its bacteria that causes the ache. I am doing this, I hope to avoid a root canal, its been working too now for months. I get so much relief that sometimes it has to begin hurting again for me to remember to treat it. Good luck.

Thank you for that. I just waiting for an appointment at hospital to have the offending teeth out but you know how they are. You should definitely get your root canal done

I am ill enough that I must try to manage with the root canal. My denist has cleaned that area and recapped it and we are watching it closely, root canals can empty all kinds of toxic stuff into our blood stream, they are in fact risky. Thank you.

Is it just me, or, is giving a pre-transplant patient ANY medical advice on what drug to take for pain relief whilst waiting a bit irresponsible to say the very least? You cant possibly know enough to make a guess without knowing what was already in the patients system (even vitamins can be cumulative not to mention possible drug interactions etc).
