I am writing with a heavy heart this evening. My dad died this afternoon. It was peaceful , gentle and pain free and he was holding our hands. His journey will continue in the stars with my mum. Thank you all for your support and kind messages over the last few weeks. I'm still happy to be of help to anyone if I can. Ask anything via private message on this forum. Love to you all. X

HI Sweetheart, I,m so sorry darling thank god it was peaceful and he had you with him. If and when you are ready I would love to hear more of such an interesting character. I,d often thought of him ever since you first posted, he must have been well ahead of his time with the vegetarianism. There must be some marvellous stories and indeed memories for your sister and yourself. Peace to him and you both. Yours anne x
I am so sorry for your loss. He certainly was a wonderful man. You take great care of yourself. I think he will look after you now. I am sometimes certain that my mum and dad, bless them are taking care of me.
I am so sorry. I wish he could still be with all of you but it sure is perfect he could go holding his daughters hands. I hope to be so lucky when my time comes. The photo of your dad is lovely. Wishing you peace.

Thank you all for your kind messages. We will be collecting donations for the British Liver Trust at my dad's funeral and my sister and I are hoping to fundraise over the next year because we feel that there is a real need for more awareness about liver disease. This forum has helped us enormously during the last few months - we had so many questions that the NHS just didn't answer. This forum provided a safe environment to talk about experiences and to know that we weren't alone. Thank you BLT and everyone. With love. Helen
My deepest condolences to you Helen and your sister at this very sad time. I hope in the days/weeks ahead you can take comfort in the knowledge that your dear Dad passed away peacefully with so much love around him, his hand being held by his lovely daughters. I will always be eternally grateful that I was holding my Dads hand as he passed away peacefully, just as he held my hand and guided me from the moment I entered this world.
Thinking of you at this difficult time and sending you love, healing hugs and prayers ❤️🙏🏻❤️ xxx
The best any of us can hope for is a "good death" - that sounds crazy, but it looks like that is exactly what your dad had - surrounded by loved ones - pain free - and the opportunity to say goodbye properly. The photo is so lovely, what a handsome man, you must take credit for all the support and love you gave - that will have made it easier for him for sure. xx
