April goal

I think for this month I’d like to reach 10k again. I can’t recall the last time I reached that, so 🤞

I've got the same goal as you Rob and even have it set as a Strava challenge.

I joined MissUnderstanding 's group to achieve this in Q1 but a combo of bad weather and illness scuppered that, although I did get up to about 8km. Two big learnings though were to forget about pace and 'run comfortably' because speed will come and the other was to listen to spoken word or at least unfamiliar music in order to help with learning No.1.

Good luck to both of us - I'll be looking out for your post saying you've done it!

Me too!! I e been plagued by illness and general life busyness for ages. I’m hoping to hit 10k again soon!

Good luck with your goal RobD66 ! What’s your plan? What’s your starting point in terms of how you’ve been running lately? Looking forward to following your journey!

I’m not sure I have a plan really. I’ve just run 5k so really maybe increase by a mile for the next three weekends?

What does your weekly pattern been over the past few weeks? Have you just hit 5k for the first time in a while or have you been running that distance regularly recently? Sorry-lots of questions!!

You might find going up by a mile is quite a jump. That could be a lot of extra time on feet. You’d basically be going from 5k to 10k in about three weeks. It would feel pretty fast to me. Are you on a deadline? If not, perhaps it’s worth taking it a bit more gently? It sounds like you’ve had a fair bit of experience in the past so you’re probably in a better position to know what will work for you!! We usually err on the side of advising caution here!

Caution is my middle name - well in my pseudonym anyway 😊. I’ve no deadline or anything, it’s just something to aim for. If I don’t then I’ll not beat myself up over it. I don’t take running that seriously (any more) and that’s something I try to pass on to newer runners - enjoy it and try not to stress 😌

Not what you're looking for?
