Welcome to the 2024 Advent Challenge! For a bit of Christmas fun, we’re challenging you to see how many of our “12 runs of Christmas” you can tick off by Christmas Day.
Here’s how it works…
Choose a run from the list below (or see what pops up on your usual run)
Take a photo and/or write a reply below (or write your own separate post)
Keep track of how many runs you’ve done and we’ll see if there’s a winner on Boxing Day
Here are the runs:
1) Santa dash: run in a Santa hat
2) Red-nosed reindeer: put on a red nose or let nature paint yours red on a cold run
3) Berry bimble: spot some festive berries
4) Running around the Christmas tree: take a selfie with a Christmas tree
5) Follow the star: run at night or spot a star decoration
6) Silent night: run without any music or commentary
7) Christmas stockings: wear some Christmassy socks
8) Frosty the snowman: run in the frost/snow
9) Rockin’ robin: spot a robin on your run
10) Light exercise: run past some Christmas lights
11) O run all ye faithful: take a photo of a church
12) Christmas pudding: eat something Christmassy when you get home!
It’s totally fine to walk or use a treadmill. Stay safe and don’t run/walk if conditions are dodgy.
Don’t bin your rest days if you’d usually keep them. It’s absolutely allowed to adapt to suit how you like to run and interpret the instructions as tenuously as you like.
Good luck everyone! Let’s see some Christmassy runs!

I’ve been practising the alto line for Silent Night this afternoon just in case I end up singing that in a Carol service. Descants all the way for the others-Hark the Herald is my favourite but I couldn’t think of a pun…maybe next year!
Silent running will be hard for me, although maybe if I decide to take MrU on, he can chatter away. We’ll see! Maybe you’ll tick off a challenge or two….you should definitely have a Christmas pudding (or two, or three…..)
Hope it’s a lovely advent time for you, whatever it brings ❤️
Fantastic! It’s always really lovely to see you. It’s been hard here with general busyness. Luckily I’ve got a quieter month now so I can make the most of it with some silly run fun. Hope it’s a good one for you too! ❤️🎄🏃
Me too!! Frosty pictures are always the prettiest too. I like the right kind of snow but that’s a very specific type-crisp but not icy. We’ll see! Can’t wait to see what we all come up with.! ❄️❄️❄️
morning MissUnderstanding …I did the berry bimble on Wed but the birds must be extremely hungry round here, I hardly saw any berries but here’s a photo to prove it 😜
That poor lonely berry!!! You must have some seriously greedy birds round your way! To be fair, with the weather as it is, they need the extra energy to battle the wind!
Here’s my Christmas pudding! Poor old Father Christmas was a bit battered so he was reduced in the sale at the local leisure centre. He was a reward for a short run and a Pilates class where the air conditioning was broken. We accidentally did “hot Pilates!”. I was glad of a bit of sugar to pick me up afterwards!!
Re 6) Silent night: I can't remember the last time I ran with music or commentary! So 'twould be cheating to claim that!!
Also, am short of sopranos for O Come All ye Faithful descanton Saturday 21st December, if you fancy popping by? Current Venn diagram of "capable" and "available" is distressingly void.
On my run this morning I passed our local Church, spotted some Holly berries (very hard to find this year, where are they all?), and then forgot it was supposed to be a selfie in front of a tree, but this is the local Christmas Tree growers opening up for the day. So that's 2 possibly 3 bagged today, depending on how generous you're feeling. Still windy out, but at least it's stopped raining.
😍😍😍 That’s a really lovely pic and a great run too. Very efficient with all those advent challenge categories ticked!!! I think you can claim all three! 🏅🏅🏅
This was almost a Rockin robin!!! He flew off before I could catch him in the picture!!! I had a nice 5k though so that’s a win. I think I’ll claim the robin run even without full photographic evidence!
Yes, I blinking well am...Life these last months have really taken a toll on me running wise.... and mentally as well as Physically... so... I need a LIFT!
Never too late to join in here!! Super pleased you’re joining in the Christmassy fun!!! You e had so much to deal with lately, hopefully it’ll be some (Christmas) light relief ❤️
O run all ye faithful - take a photo of a church✔️
These were taken over a couple of runs, both after work in my local village. I did take a selfie with the tree but quality control forbids me from sharing it! Will tick this was off another time!
CB and I ran this morning... and we sort of amalgamated two things... The berry bimble and the running around the Christmas tree..
A real dearth of berries... the cold snap has meant the birds have scoffed nearly all! I had aheck of a job... CB pointed them out !
Christmas tree on the small community board green... I ran around it a few times, much to the delight of some of the high school children... but forgot to take a selfie
... does it count or do I need to head back there tomorrow!
So, I was doing the Christmas decs and I came across my Robins, made with grandchildren a few years ago. So, whenever I return from a run, there they are. I also did a silent run yesterday, we had a trip to Cardiff to see their xmassy festivities and then had a run before heading back home. As Mr Sax64 and I were running on unfamiliar ground, we opted for no headphones as we were constantly stopping and checking our route. Somehow, I don't think I'll get through all the challenges, but hey it's fun trying.
