Background. I started running as a complete novice in 2018 when my husband retired and I was temporarily relieved of childminding duties as my daughter was on maternity leave. I graduated , even ran a few 10Ks and was running regularly until I just stopped a few years later. No reason 🤷🏼♀️.
I’ve kept active and was always thinking I’d start again but found one big hurdle - just getting out the door! I’m pleased to say I did that and started C25K again. I was thrilled to try week 1 again and find my fitness up to it. Indeed I’ve done 6 runs and I’m already tackling week 5. I’ve a big birthday coming up so plan to graduate before then and complete a 5K. Present to myself.
As the title of this ramble suggests, its getting out the door that was the hardest but if anyone reads this and is in a similar situation please go for it. I'm also finding I'm doing more in the day as I'm returning energised and more motivated. This may be a different journey as I believe all my runs in 2018 were dry and often hot 😆. The adventure continues.

Thanks Dexy5. I’ve still been lurking reading posts and following your adventures (and others). I’m remained committed to parkrun but now as an Rd and volunteer (180) - so you can see I was always likely to be back! I’ll keep you all posted.
You are so right….especially when the weather is tough. If I added up all the minutes I’ve spent faffing instead of just getting out of the door, I bet I’d have weeks and weeks worth! It’s great to know we’re all similar and we can share our struggles and triumphs.
It sounds like your comeback is going brilliantly! Wishing you many happy runs free from procrastination! Can’t wait to hear how you get on!
Hey welcome back 😄 I remember you from before, good to see you are enjoying running again and you are so right about getting out th door being the hardest part
Welcome back Sybilw I do remember you. Definitely the hardest part is getting out the door which I’m sure so many of us here have experienced but once that step has been taken ….well it’s such a great feeling of accomplishment. Enjoy many more runs👍👏🏃♀️🙋♀️xy
