I ran my fastest Parkrun since my return from a Health scare. It was my 75th Birthday and 20th for Parkrun our local parkrun really celebrated the day with Cheer leaders local celebrities the local Football Mascot started the event

Then my lovely wife became seriously ill so that has stalled the good momentum.

I was making so today I am going out for a recovery run

The best thing about running is it helps to forget what ever current worry you are facing as you just concentrate on the next step of your run

So sorry to hear about your wife. It’s really hard when a loved one is so ill. It’s often the time that the runs are most needed and hardest to find. Thinking of you. I really hope the recovery run is a good one for you today ❤️‍🩹

Make sure you take the time to run and do whatever you need to do to clear your head and take your mind from your worries.

You need all your health and strength to care for both your wife and yourself. It can be really different to prioritise our needs when someone we love is sick but it's important for you to look after yourself too.

I do hope things get better.

Sorry to hear your wife is very unwell, you are totally right though, running gives you some time out from day to day worries. Sending healing vibes and hope improvement is happening

Oh no. Sorry to hear about your wife and hope she is also on her way of recovery.

I have found that running gives me a huge amount of mental resilience when life’s things get you down.

Fortitude is a word that comes to mind and is I think a good word to describe it. Running regularly lifts the amount of fortitude I have, I think.

I just had to look up the excact definition and it does describe perfectly what running has given me.

Dictionary definition:

FORTITUDE: That strength or firmness of mind which enables a person to encounter danger with coolness and courage, or to bear pain or adversity without murmuring, depression, or despondency; passive courage; resolute endurance; firmness in confronting or bearing up against danger or enduring trouble.

Oh dear... I do empathize... and hope your wife makes good progress x

Very well done you. When you are able to run, it gives us time to re assess, recharge and lose a little of the stress for a while.. x
