New girl, here to say hello

I started C25 k many times before finally completing it last month in the UK. I've now moved to Thailand and it's taken a few weeks to adapt to the heat and humidity. 🌡️

I started NRC 10k plan to try and give my runs some focus. There's lots of hills nearby but currently avoiding them like the plague as I don't think I can manage heat, humidity and hills yet. 😱

I still haven't worked out whether I like running, but I know I like the runners high, the improved fitness, more energy and body shape changes, so until I fall in love with running, I'll just stay in love with the benefits of running 🤣

It's nice to meet you all 😀

Welcome!

The YouTube running couple Ben and Mary "This Messy Happy" were in Thailand for a few years. (I think they're back in the UK now.)

It's also nice to meet you as well Mambo28967, not too many of us like hills , me for one and running in hot humid conditions isn't at all pleasant, nice to know that you like "runners high", congratulations on graduating from C25K in the UK last month, not sure if there are any parkruns near to where you now live in Thailand, good luck with your NRC 10K plan, onwards and upwards 🏃✅✅

Welcome from me and I’ll just flag up the *new* welcome page in the pinned posts with where to find some useful bits and pieces…

It’s totally valid to love the benefits of running. My husband is the same. The main thing is to find a way to run you can find enjoyable, even if you’re not loving every moment, and that will really help keep you going. I found once I found start to see progress and ticked of some goals I had, that was when I really started having fun. Also, just running with a bit more experience so I knew how to adapt plans to work with the ways I knew I would enjoy the runs most. Hopefully you’ll get there too.

It’s all hills round here and I love them. I can see how heat and hills together is a tough ask. It’s always ok to walk up a hill and enjoy the lovely downhill (although that can sometimes be just as challenging). It’s what many experienced trail runners do because it’s often more energy efficient. It doesn’t make you any less of a runner to walk as well!

Really good luck with the 10k plan and the big move. I bet you’ve got some seriously lovely scenery even if it is very hot! Can’t wait to hear how you get on!
