I'm still here!

Sorry I haven't posted for a while. Life has just got in the way but I have still been running. I've been trying to increase my stamina by running for longer but on the treadmill. I've almost finished the Magic Plan 60 minutes but got a bit stuck at the 50 minutes mark. Three weeks ago I did my first Park Run for ages having been volunteering for the few weeks before that. Everything seemed to be going well and I felt my pace and effort were coming along well. It did get quite warm (I prefer arctic temperatures!) and managed to run the whole 5k including the hills. However as I approached the the finish line my stomach churned and I heaved and felt awful. I wasn't actually sick but I felt as though I was going to be. Thereafter for the whole day I had pains around my diaphragm which didn't subside until about 11pm. I hadn't had any breakfast - normal for me and was well hydrated but I think I just pushed myself too hard forgetting that outside running is not the same as doing it on the treadmill! So, I spent the following week again on the treadmill - deciding to be close to home in case of tummy pains, and took it steady. Last week's Park Run was a really slow one but I didn't want a repetition of the previous week. The week just ended has been so hectic and complicated I haven't even managed to get on the treadmill - child and dog-sitting plus car MOT/servicing etc - all too much. Oh and the RAIN!!! Anyway, today I went to Park Run again, it was colder this morning but soon warmed up in the sunshine. I had to walk some of the way but ended up getting my best time this year! How does that happen??? Dog returns to daughter later today and children are sorted, so next week is looking more hopeful running-wise. If the weather holds I'll definitely be outside again as there's nothing like fresh air and beautiful surroundings to boost your spirits and set you up for the day. Have a good week everyone.

Wow, I feel exhausted just thinking about how busy you are! Glad this week's Parkrun went well, this is a lovely time of year to be running 😁

Fantastic to see you back! Dip in and out as you can-nobody keeps a register and there’s no black mark against your name when life gets busy. It’s always just a bonus to hear from posters. No apologies needed!

It sounds like things have been crazy for you. Here’s hoping for calm and that the runs can be some headspace in amongst everything that’s going on!
