Hello everyone!
I forced myself out the house on Saturday to go for a run. The 3 runs before had all been 5 days apart; then a 7 day gap had grown!
It was raining and I wasn’t feeling great (sore throat), but I managed to do a bit of positive thinking and decided that the week could be translated as my six-monthly ‘rest’ week. OK, so it’s only been 4 months since I started those 1 minute spurts... but the principle of rest is good, right?!
The NRC ‘Just a Run’ seemed a fitting choice - a 30 minute coached recovery run that focuses on running easily the whole way. I felt I was going slowly and easily and was amazed at how good it all felt... until minute 17/18, when the wheels fell off a bit and I struggled for several minutes. I stopped to take off a couple of layers and recalibrate; then I was off again at a steady pace and continued running for 5.5km...
I’m blown away that my body is still able to do this after such neglect! It really did feel that the run was a success, simply by dint of being out there, doing it. It would have been so easy not to.
Tomorrow morning the plan is to hit the road again and try to get back into the rhythm of running several times a week.
I have JuJu’s 10k plan and want to start that; not sure how long the planks and so on should be for? I did 5.5km today but it’s coincidental that this is the distance on her plan in week 1: run 3. Do the first two runs of week 1 need to be done before the 5.5, does anyone know?
Oooph, so tired. Goodnight peeps xxx
