Still doing maintenance runs three times a week until we get to cooler weather. Good one on Wednesday so set off full of hope today……..mistake!! My legs felt like they were full of concrete from the off, for whatever reason. However I’m proud to say I persevered and, although a had a couple of short walks, I did my 30 mins. Strong wind today - how come the wind is against you whichever direction you run in??!
Celebrating the fact I didn’t give up and go home, would have been easy! 😀

Weird how sometimes the runs are easy and others they are almost impossible. Like you I'm doing maintenance runs too, it's been too hot for anything more, but I've tried to mix it up a bit. Try slightly longer runs or maybe intervals, or just introducing a few random 30 seconds of running as fast as you can from time to time (this is called Splits according to GTFC who can probably explain a bit better )
Just shaking things up can be what you need to get moving.
I agree about the wind, it's never in the right direction is it? 😂
Edit: these quick intervals are called Strides not Splits, sorry for the confusion.
Thanks! Yet another term that's not part of my (admittedly extremely limited) running vocabulary.
Maybe the existing "glossary of running terms" FAQ - healthunlocked.com/couchto5.... - could be updated (I can't see splits or strides in it) and better flagged or pinned?
I had to google strides Yesletsgo . Left to my own devices I'd probably have said "doing zoomies when I felt like it!"
Fwiw Xmrkn20 and Rabbit561 , when I have leaden legs it's often because I've not been drinking enough water, or just because it's too hot and humid and I'm not in the mood for making an effort.
you’ve described about 1 in 3 of my runs to perfection. Legs full of lead - exactly! Been waiting for the cooler weather too but all of a sudden it’s turned to torrential and blustery showers that drench me. I don’t mind a bit of rain but this is ridiculous.
I’ve noticed that about the wind too. I look forward to turning and having the wind behind me but somehow it never is.
But it’s great that we’re keeping going and one day it might get easier 😃
