I know I absolutely have to get some Christmas baking done today since it is my son's last guitar lesson this afternoon until the New Year and I'd like to give his instructor some treats. But running errands picking up some last minute supplies, I noticed the wind starting to pick up and they reported wind gusts up to 50 kph this afternoon. Ugh! So I shuffled the order of my errands today, and realized there is no reason I can't get a quick run in first. With the wind I wasn't sure how long I wanted to go so left it as a free run with no set time or distance in mind. I thought it was a good time to try a new playlist so found a Rock of Ages playlist on a Spotify with the music from the original artists (not the musical) and off I went, winding in and out of my neighbourhood streets and pathways, trying my best to avoid the wind. 6.85 km and 44 minutes later, I feel refreshed and rejuvenated and ready to bake my little heart out. And the icing on the cake.... I loved the new playlist and plan to use it on my long run this weekend. Yay!

A wonderful free run with a new favourite playlist 🎶
Sounds like a nice run! I want to know what you baked though! I don't have any time before Christmas for any such fun, Christmas eve is looking like my first free day, so I doubt I will get the chance. Always like knowing what others are doing though!
I'm keeping it low key this year since I tend to be the one to eat most of it and we're not hosting Christmas this year. I made a double batch of my all time favourite cranberry white chocolate chip cookies. There is something about them that are so yummy and have a festive feel with the red cranberries and white chocolate chips. Each of my son's teachers will be getting a tin of cookies and a gift card this year.
I will admit, due to life being a little too chaotic, the rest of my baking has been purchased - cheesecake balls, Nanaimo bars, and buttertart bars. If time permits, I'll try to make a batch of nuts and bolts but we have zero willpower when it comes to that stuff so we'll have to see😋.....
Oh wow! Just had to google half of it - nuts and bolts!! All sounds delicious and very naughty!! Still we'll be out running, so at least there's some virtue in that!!
Sounds like a great run and its always good to find new tunes to run to. My wife was baking most of the evening yesterday too and its really not easy to walk past those tins without sneaking a cookie or two. But myself and the kids have been warned not to go near them 😁 Yesterday was twisted chocolate and coconut swirl cookies and crunchy peanut butter balls dipped in white chocolate and fudge versions too. Today she is making my fave which is the same as yours - the white chocolate and cranberry cookies. I really don’t know if I can hold myself back...
Oh yum! It would be hard to walk by those tins and not steal a treat or two. I made a double batch of the cookies because my son likes them too. He'll have a nice surprise when he gets home from school since I left a few out.
Running, new music playlist, guitar lessons & baking? An order made in heaven, l say!
I'm so impressed Sask...you always make time to squeeze a run in. Even the cold and the wind and that batch of cooking you wanted to do didn't stop you getting your runners on. Kudos😊xxx
The force is strong with you😄...
Running has become such an important part of my stress control and mental health. I find it hard to work it in on my work days, but really try to make time on my days off. It is such a slippery slope when we start to let it slide. I truly love how I feel after a run though and try to remind myself of that when my motivation is low (and sometimes it is just too low to get out).
Oooh, I can't wait for the new Star Wars flick. It starts here tomorrow but there is no way we're braving the lines and chaos (and have 2 Christmas functions this weekend) so we've planned to go next weekend. Yay! My son has the Star Wars advent calendar and I'm not sure who is more excited every morning, him or me 🤓🤣
Double Yeay!!! Sounds great to me...
There is nothing like a quick run to set us up for everything Christmas may throw our way!
I am all set to make the mincemeat for mince pies.. ( vegetarian and gluten free for Little Mum)..using my great grandmother's recipe!! I shall follow your example and get a good cobweb blowing run in beforehand..
Go you!
I remember my mom having mincemeat tarts, but I haven't had it since I was a kid. I remember liking it then.
It is amazing how a quick run can help to set up for a perfect day!
Enjoy your day of baking and running. I sure did!
