One step forward two steps back

Hi every one, I've been a bit quiet recently due to the weather, it's had a really bad affect on my asthma,

I completed my Cardiff Bay swim which didn't go as planned but I still did OK, 2nd in my age category and 16th over all out of 50, I was hoping to finish a bit higher up, but after talking to "someone who knows" it isn't actually a very easy swim, The other thing that didn't help was the fact I couldn't swim in a straight line🤦‍♂️ and I ended up swimming an extra 100m, not helpful at all, (lesson learned) I was also having issues with my breathing which at the time I just put down to bad preparation but was actually the first signs of my asthma kicking in, the following week I only swam twice and didn't run at all, I missed out on my local Parkrun and even had a couple of days off from work, Anyhow, I did go swimming on Friday as I tend to find the pool environment can sometimes help my breathing, not sure if that's normal or not, probably something to do with the humidity, who knows, but if it works🤷‍♂️ plus it was a coached session with the tri club I've recently joined. I then went for a 5k jog on Sunday which was hard work on my legs and lungs😜 but close enough to my usual time on that particular route that I was happy with the result, I seem to be getting my asthma back under control which is a relief as it hasn't been that bad for ages and it has really messed up my training and set me back at least 2 weeks, but worst of all it really knocked my confidence.

It's just so frustrating when you're itching to get out and do something, but you just can't breath, I suppose there's nothing you can do, you just have to wait until things settle down again and then start back nice and steady. Apart from my usual exercise routine I have no events planned until August which will be a 750m swim in Swansea Bay which I'm looking forward to.👍

That sounds incredibly frustrating for you. You’ve worked really hard and seen some great progress. Hopefully the breathing issue will be a thing of that past soon. Have you checked in with your GP practice or whoever helps you manage it?

Sending good wishes your way ❤️‍🩹

Very annoying for you. However make sure you are properly better before you decide to get back out there with your running. I hope you start to feel well soon👍
