After much driving, packing and unpacking I've actually managed 3 runs this week. Wednesday was my last trip to Sussex for a while and I'm pleased because that journey wipes me out. Coming back in the early hours of Thursday morning with a car packed full and a meowing cat was interesting, he ran away on moving day and my neighbour has been feeding him. The M25 exit to Dartford crossing was closed so through London we went! So, to this morning and I woke feeling energetic enough to run. parkrun didn't appeal so I went along a track I found the other day, over 2 road bridges and out the other end, had a little explore and turned back, over the 2 bridges and kept going, lowish heartrate, nice and slow, got to about 2.5 k when my daughter messaged....dropped to a walk, took a couple of photos and answered her, then found I was about done, couldn't find that easy pace again so I walked a bit and did a few short speed intervals, at just over 4k I found myself home....
My runs are nothing to get excited about just slow and steady but hoping to rebuild some stamina over time.
Run happy or rest well.

Lovely run and a happy return route... very peaceful and green...I feel, all your runs are something to get excited about, you are there and you are running... Perfect!
Moving is so stressful and tiring, especially including long drives and several stages like that. The final trip sounds like it was a nightmare. I imagine you must have been so worried about your cat too, even though you knew it was being fed. I hope the cat is settling in now.
It sounds as if the slow and steady runs are just what you need for a while, rather than anything to get excited about! Your comment about excitement made me think of the old Chinese curse “May you live in interesting times”.. I feel like maybe you have had enough interesting times?.. and now it’s time for some peaceful exploration of your lovely new surroundings and going home to cuddle the cat! Xx
So glad you are moved in at last. Your daily running route looks lovely. I hope you and your moggy soon settle in and enjoy your new home and surroundings. Happy running 🏃
I half hope he'll run away, he's the same as usual, sleeps all day then scratch and bite all night, and I've tried shutting him out of my room, he tore the carpet up trying to get in
it’s been a stressful and tiring time for you. Now you’re properly there, you’ll be able to check out local running routes! It looks like a great area for running. So slow and steady IS exciting (and the best way for you right now) as you check out the area! If you need faster running now and then, you can always do a few speed intervals 😊
Well done Sue. You’ve had an awful lot on these last few weeks. Sussex will miss you. Do shout out when you’re next down our way. It would be good to catch up. But for now, continue putting down those roots and exploring your new environment. Stay healthy. Xx
A lot of the stress of moving has sort of flowed past me 😂 I think I took it out on the weather, all I did when I first came here was moan about being cold but it's lovely and warm now 😁
I had a very, very chatty cat who was very well travelled. I'm not sure where she found the energy for non-stop talking during trips. But Pippa (Pipsqueak) was a big part of my life for 19 years.
Now you've got your cat you are properly moved! They don't like long car journeys do they? Let's hope that once hess settled he gets a less antisocial routine. Not being able to use the Dartford Crossing is just the icing on the cake!At least you had a great run! Sounds like a place with lots of great options,, looking forward to hearing about them. If you ran too fast you'd miss stuff😁
No they don't, he seems to be fine during the day, I kept him busy playing yesterday evening and he wasn't too bad overnight. It's quieter here, exploring is fun, I'm happy to run along paths and along the beach, but it's a real bonus finding a tree lined track so close by
Sounds like you moved to the perfect place Sue, so much choice.Puss is probably very unsettled by the move. Cats are territorial so he's having to learn his way around too. Once he's used to it he'll be much calmer.
Wow! What a lot of driving confidence you must have! Exploring your new area as you run sounds very exciting to me. Well done to you. Sorry I haven't kept up with your posts.
I love driving but it has been tiring, and missing the Dartford tunnel made for an interesting journey because I didn't have a clue where I was, don't be sorry, we read when we can, I've missed loads lately
