Still extremely over-awed by everyone on this forum. All doing incredible things; I am still posting my ramblings on Couch to 5K...but feel I have to behave more sensibly on this forum. More running, less looking around
So, have heeded advice and just taking it slow and steady, three runs... three times.
Run One.. last Thursday - Just under 5K...36 mins. Run Two-Saturday-5.72K... 40 mins. Run Three-Monday-5.72K..36 mins.
So, getting there, albeit slowly. I am enjoying it, experimenting with routes and types of run.
Ran this morning, but as yet have not worked out time, distance or anything.. it was fun though..I sneaked out with Speed again..shhh!

No reason to be over awed with anyone , we all run our own races and distances
Stick with what works for you getting there is all we are all doing
Yup, bit by bit is all we can do. Keep chipping away at the distance and we get there by degrees. I enjoyed doing the 5 to 10k. It feels fantastic when you do finally get there.
We're getting there Floss, bit by bit. I'm still revelling in just being someone who runs at the moment. I like noticing that I am getting stronger and able to do more, increasing distance slowly. I am sure I could be a lot faster and maybe err on the side of caution but I feel most at home running slowly for longer periods so that's what I do twice a week and once a week I try to work on speed and technique but I mostly get distracted by what's around me, just like you but I can't write about it in the same way.
We are... and although I think my distance may increase, I like you, am going to be most happy, just running in my own time for my own delight! Weirdly, you mention getting stronger, and I felt that on yesterday's run... I needed to do a short run..before an art class, so I took Speed.. no effort!!! Unbelievable! My legs felt much stronger and my body responded better too. Plus...running in my own time, does give me the chance to gaze on the world, and then let it all out in my words..
Fantastic, very sensible and wise 😀! The 5km run is so great as it is a,ways a challenge but far enough to minimise injury and fits well into the day! I graduated around 30 weeks ago and do a 5k X 2 times a week and one long run. This allows my legs to recover too. Monday, for some reason is always hard work but I think having a 3 times a week running routine has helped me stay on track. If you want to increase run times, do it gradually (no more than 10% is recommended) so u can see how your legs are in the run and then how they recover. Running at a comfortable pace allows me to naturally increase speed rather than forcing it - have to b careful as I am 52 and impressed that running has even been possible, all thanks to the C25K programme. Good to see you on here oldfloss, am looking forward to your ramblings here. I now tend to leave c25k to undergrads now and just look in sometimes as advisor.
I'm also slowly raising my distance, and have managed 6k a few times, so it's coming along, and am also getting out with the wife now she's started c25k, so that's also keeping me motivated.☺btw, why do you feel the need to take speed? No heavy drug taking on here please!lol😂
I know what you mean, the stepping stones prog. I've started looking into that more, Is speed the one to do first or can you do them in any order?😊
Well.. because I am me, and have to check things out properly! I followed suggested advice and I did Stepping Stone first.. It is a weird one, and has mixed responses from those who try it..It is different and bit odd, pace wise, but I did not find it too much of a problem... other than having to perform a slow soft- shoe shuffle type step!
Did that three times.. day run day off etc.. then I did Speed, which suited me perfectly...I loved it, still do! Again, three times, then I got the Bronchial lurgy, so did not do Stamina until better, again three times. I like all the podcast+.. and use them now, mix and match, not at all, or incorporated into another run. Yesterday, because I had limited time.. took Speed.. great fun!
I would do the Stepping Stone first.. just to see..?
Have been checking your posts out and know your wife is on the journey
Hi Floss, I know what you mean about feeling a bit more serious on this side and I really like that it is. I don't use all the modern gizmos so talk of heart beats per minute, recovery rates, etc is all a little beyond me, but I like ear wigging on the conversations and am learning little snippets, bit by bit.
Yes everyone is really friendly, and the advise given is good but I feel like I've joined advanced algebra when I still don't know my times tables.
Ramble away! I find I am contributing more here, but then I dip back into the C25K forum more as well, which is great because I had stopped for some reason. I think it had all got a bit big, and when they changed the website I moved to the FB page which is instantly responsive and I never quite went back to the HU forum. But I find I get great advice here, thank you all, and I know there is some overlap too, but it's great to be amongst friends wherever we go. See, I'm rambling now! Keep posting, Floss
