Haven't run for nearly 2 weeks 😪, basically had a virus and my get up and go has got up and gone 🙃. Went back to work Monday and actually feeling a lot better now but for some reason I just can't get out for a run I need to but don't know what to start with now?.

Hope everyone is OK and all your runs have been fantastic xx

I’ve also had a horrible cold. I’ve run bits and pieces here and there but I would probably have been better just recovering. It’s gone on for a fortnight. Sending sympathies to you!

My standard comeback run is to load up the “Comeback Run” on Nike Run Club! That’s fifteen minutes. I give myself permission to walk or stop early if I need to. Once you’ve done that, you’ll have some information about how you feel and that will help judge your next run. Are you training for an event or following a programme at the moment? You might want to go back in your plan a week or two and hold off any speed runs until you feel back up to speed!

Once you’ve been for a run, the next one will be much easier. It’s often the mental hurdle that’s the biggest issue when you’ve had an enforced break. Good luck!

It's definitely a mental thing I was enjoying my running before this, the nike app I had been following. I've not been to 6 a side football or parkrun lately but also my son in law has had it and I normally run with him

That comeback run is great because it’s not specific to illness, busyness, holidays, whatever. It’s just a run to coach you through getting back out there.

Another thing I sometimes do is go out for a walk wearing my run kit and decide I’ll run if I feel like it. I usually do!

Hope you're on the mend now, I took my running clothes to work but the weather absolutely put me off that never used to bother me

Is it feasible to stick your trainers on and go right now?

I could but it's bouncing down

I can almost guarantee you’ll come back feeling like an absolute hero for having done your first run in a while in the pouring rain!

Seriously though, I’d try and get it done sooner rather than later. It only becomes a bigger thing the longer you put it off. It’s a bit like going to the dentist. It’s not fun before you go but the relief when it’s over is wonderful.

sorry to hear you’ve been unwell  Tessie66 . These viruses can really knock you back, but your body will know when it’s ready to run again, so don’t worry.

ah ha. I should have read the whole chat! You’ve done it . Well done.
