I’m in!

Well, having said I was going to dip my toe, here I am on the Bridge! I’ve downloaded the time plan. I was pleasantly surprised that last weeks’ runs were pretty much week one. I want a short run to be midweek as I think I can manage that more easily with work, so I just did a favourite 5K route this morning and I will start week 1 proper on Wednesday. Wish me luck!

I’m not sure how far I’ll take the plan but I think I’m going to like the structure so …anything could happen! I feel quite excited now I have made the commitment!

I wanted to beat the heat so we set off early and it was a beautiful morning down the beach. I love these early mornings when the Isle of Wight is bathed in sunshine - Queen Victoria’s Osborne House always glows - if you zoom in on the picture it’s the very light building on the skyline.

Enjoy the sunshine everyone 😊

That’s great news! The beauty of the magic plan (or any plan really!) is you can shift the runs around to suit your week. You don’t have to do them in the order they’re written-I printed out a copy and just ticked them off as I did them and aimed for three a week keeping rest days.

Have fun and good luck!

Thank you - yes that’s a good idea to tick them off as I might well mix it up.

You are very welcome onto the Bridge. I hang out sometimes in the middle of the bridge, sometimes just on the 5K side of the Bridge and sometimes I move over to the 10K side. The beauty of this Forum is that it is for everyone and a good hang out spot for anyone who finished C25K. Personally I love parkrun and take part every Saturday morning. I train during the week and do a long run on a Sunday. Sometimes I fall away from training, my times slow down and I have to run/walk. Sometimes I train hard and build it back up again and gain relatively good fitness levels. But the main thing is that I keep plugging away. There is a fantastic atmosphere here, lovely friendly people so never worry about asking for advice or giving little run reports.

Enjoy your training. You certainly have a beautiful part of the world to be running around. Lovely pics. I flew a Microlight one time from Ireland to the Isle of Wight. That was an amazing little adventure.

Thank you for the welcome! I did try my local parkrun awhile back - brilliantly organised but that particular route was linear and I prefer to do a circuit - I might try another one but also I run with my dog on a waist harness and I found it really difficult to run with her on a short lead - it made my arms tired!🤣

your microlight adventure sounds amazing if a little scary !

Welcome to the Bridge. It's a great and friendly place to be to extend your running. I did the magic plan too and it worked for me. Good luck with the runs 🏃‍♀️ 🏃

Thank you I’m very lucky to live by the sea - as long as it’s not blowing a hoolie 💨 🤣

Thanks everyone for your welcome - I’ve kept posting in C25K forum ever since I graduated but I will be glad of everyone’s advice and encouragement on here too!

I remember when I started the original plan in lockdown I never thought I’d run for 30 mins let alone 5K and I feel a similar sense of trepidation now but what I do know is the plans work and having dipped in and out over the last couple of years, I know how good they are at building gradually- so never say never eh?! I’m not aiming for 10K per se but I might just get there. I’m much more confident now to mix and match the runs to suit me and life’s inevitable curveballs😊
