A date with Coach B

Ebony and I had a date with Coach B this morning which was lush! ❤️

I had decided to do a 5K this morning so I downloaded a guided run and off we went. Now I know this is a delicate topic for discussion, but personally I like to get all my ‘morning routines’ done before I go out - nothing worse than getting caught short with that feeling halfway through a run as I learnt to my cost early in my bimbling career (running career sounds too pretentious) 😉💩 Anyway I mention this only because obviously the dog doesn’t necessarily have that thought process and it was after I had stopped to deal with Ebony’s business that I lost coach B!😱 I was still pondering his last question before I realised he had been quiet for rather too long (probably ditched me for  Oldfloss ). I was already at the beach by this time so I reckon I had lost him for the best part of 1K, hard to tell. Anyway I “resumed workout” having never actually stopped 😡 and on we continued, a lovely bimble along the seafront and through the park as the wind was light.

I know I always say I don’t bother about stats but I do like to look at them afterwards just for interest - it was very difficult to unravel the splits today which seem to go from 6 to 12 minutes!! 🤣

It was a turning point in our relationship as I was actually rather cross with Coach B today although I did forgive him as it wasn’t really his fault. Ah our first tiff but we made up very quickly.

As I dip my toe in the Bridge programme I’m trying to work out how to make the times work for me during the week. I think I’m going to make this the medium length one (I think I’m going to go with time rather than distance and see how I go) and then I can go for the longer one on a Monday which is my day off. Then I can do a short recovery /intervals one midweek when I’m working.

It seems I have a plan. Yikes.

Who doesn’t love a run with coach B?! He gets around and has a lot of fans here. It’s always nice to discover another one! The app is a bit buggy, especially on the distance based runs where the GPS can be very dodgy, as you can see by your splits being so weird!! Glad you still had a good time.

Which particular programme are you taking about? Have I got it right that it’s the time based magic plan? We have people following lots of different paths to 10k, including the one on the Nike Run Club app. The great thing about the time based magic plan is you can pick NRC runs to match the duration if you want more Coach B! Have fun whatever you’re doing, and I’ll just put a little shout out for the weekly quest which is sort of our equivalent of catch up corner. It’s a nice place to chat about your weekly goals and get some support. It totally isn’t compulsory. The current one is here…

Have a great time with your runs!

Very weird on the NRC app today although I don’t usually have an issue - I actually looked again this afternoon as I was chatting to daughter about it and it was 21 not 12 for one of the splits so I assume that’s where he lost me!

Yes, the time based magic plan is what I’m looking at - I think I can make that fit and as you say I can match the duration with Coach B or other NRC runs too!

Thanks for the link to the quest, I’ll definitely take a peek - it’s always good to have some extra motivation! 😊

Sounds like a great plan! Could the 'power saving' mode on your phone have caused Coach B to go off in a huff?

Yes maybe 🤷🏼‍♀️who knows with technology?!

apparently solar flares are messing with GPS at the moment. I do love a Coach B guided run but the system is a bit off sometimes and I often lose him around the graveyard😀
