I woke an hour earlier than usual, still on Continental time I suppose, so going for a run was a no brainer. Toyed with the idea of an interval run but it was already 17C and I was in no mood to push myself in the heat. Browsed the NRC app and found 'A Hot Run' - hmm, 35 minutes 'comfortable and relaxed'. Promising. I did the Cold Run in the winter and that was useful so decided this would be the one for me.
In short, highly recommended. There wasn't much that was new but it's good to have it all presented logically. Coach B doesn't ramble quite as much as usual, just advice and the reasoning behind it. One thing that was particularly useful to me was being told that we exert ourselves more in the heat and humidity than when it's cold. He advised running by effort and taking breaks when it was getting too much. Perfect.
When I got home I had a look at the graphs on the Garmin Connect app. It sort of looks like I did an interval run after all The troughs are either where there was a patch of shade along the route or when I felt my heart rate was getting a bit high.
I covered just over 4 km and felt absolutely great at the end, not tired like I was after the 3K runs earlier in the week. My effort was 'easy' increasing to 'let's see how much faster I can go and still feel easy'. Just right for a warm morning.
If you like guided runs and you haven't done this one you might enjoy it as much as I did
Keep cool and carry on!
