Hello Everyone and Happy St. Patrick’s Day weekend. ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

Happy St. Patrick’s Day Weekend everyone. ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ Plus huge Congratulations to Sandie1961 on her 100th parkrun this weekend. Very well done Sandie. I hope you had an amazing parkrun and got to celebrate with a post parkrun breakfast.
I was at the start yesterday, and a lady said to me, I see you here most weeks and you're doing well. You're getting faster! I thought that was so kind of her. And onroute, loads of people saying to me, well done you, keep going. I love that.
BMX Comp for no.2 son & no.3 son so no park run today for us. Hubby got up early & did a 10miler in prep for his HM & I tried & failed to run a hard effort 3 miler. I struggled to get out of zone 3. It’s no fun outside of park run.
Feeling very guilty not joining Sandie for her 100th today but it was eldest kitten’s 100th volunteering and I got to have a very gratefully received lie in. Work is a bit rubbish at the moment so is making everything hard work. Really well done to both Sandie1961 and eldest kitten. Looking forward to seeing both of you in your new black tops 😍
It was beautiful first thing this morning, blue skies, sun beaming, chiff chaffs chiff chaffing, green woodpeckers laughing away. I was in shorts and sun glasses, and I also wore my special parkrun shoes at Stratford upon Avon today (Inov8 Parkclaw G280s). They are hybrid shoes so can cope with the tarmac and the mud, and there was plenty of mud after yet more rain this week. I definitely had better grip along our short sections of mud and the riverside tarmac that is usually a bit slippy whatever the weather. I even managed to overtake a couple of runners on the finishing straight.
Very happy with my run today as my legs were feeling very tired after a long speed session yesterday. Yet another 10 miles tomorrow - only 3 weeks to go to the London Landmarks HM, 4 weeks to the Manchester Marathon relay!
A very happy St. Patrick's Day for you tomorrow Damien, this morning after last week's marshall at Palacerigg parkrun I ran this hilly trail course in a time of 35.11, the weather at 7.30 am was cold and frosty so I wore several thinner jumpers but during the run as the temperature rose I felt quite warm and it seemed to slow me down a little, I am sure if I hadn't had so many layers on I would have managed a sub 35 minute 5K, 7 weeks ago I ran that course in 34.17, lol, so much for excuses, anyway at the finishing line like last week I ate two delicious cup cakes, once again enjoy the rest of the St Patrick's weekend. 😊 💚💚🍀🍀✔️
Sandie1961 is more sensible than I am. Realising I’d sadly be the only one of our group able to make it to celebrate her 💯 today, she suggested that maybe it was a bit daft for me to travel a 400 mile round trip to run with her. Of course I had to think twice, but even I could see her point, so I ruefully backed down. 🥺
So Clevedon for Jen and I today. 474 runners - I’d go so far as to say possibly too many for the narrow little course, especially as it took more than a minute to go through the start, and the first 500m or so were stop/start, with some jogging on the spot. Even so, the weather was perfect and I loved the atmosphere. Time was irrelevant (luckily!) but we both had tons of fun. 🥰
It’s why I run Sandie1961 , to meet up with my friends and get bling. You guys all came to my 100th and it would have been lovely to do the same for you. But yes, there’ll be other times. 🥰
An excellent parkrun today. My 250th, it was sunny and warm despite the early morning frost. It wasn't too muddy and best of all, I ran it all albeit slowly. My first proper run for nearly 4 weeks after my close encounter with some volcanic rocks in Lanzarote. I probably could have run sooner but I wanted to be sure of getting round today, even if I had to walk.
But unfortunately the green t-shirts are out of stock in my size. I have ordered a vest so hope it isn't too cold next week.
I forgot to add that I took cakes (Morrisons Bites).
Geoff was really worried that there would not be enough. Just in case, I put a selection in a plastic tub labelled "Reserved for slower runners and Volunteers" but it wasn't necessary as there were plenty left over for the ukulele club on Monday.
Thanks AlMorr, yes. It has taken 7½ years to get there so I can wait a bit longer for the shirt.I read an article from 2015, I think, saying they have over 2500 t-shirts claimed every week. I imagine that could be higher now.
I am glad that you enjoyed your cupcakes. There were three of us doing our 250 at Marple today. Luckily the others didn't take cake because we had plenty left - Geoff had been worried that we didn't have enough. But a lot of people declined, maybe because they ran too fast
I get the impression Sue that the majority of runner's don't take cake at the end of their run at parkrun, on average I am usually three quarters from the end when running or tailwalker/marshall but there are still plenty of cakes to eat, last week as marshall and this morning the RD told me to "help yourself" with cake, the cake pack wasn't even open, I opened it and enjoyed eating two of the delicious cup cakes.
Hello everyone and thank you for the congrats on my 💯 th. Sadly, as others have mentioned, the HU meet up didn’t happen, but some of my running club friends turned up, which was great. It was a beautiful morning, perfect running weather. I am still taking things very steadily to protect my hip, but shaved another minute off my last time to finish in 36.44. Aim now is to get below 35 mins without ending up back on the IC. As a reward, Mr S took me out for lunch at a lovely Lincolnshire village pub, run by someone who worked with Raymond Blanc some years ago. Delicious 😋
Doddington Hall in the sunshine and a group of parkrunners
Huge Congratulations to you and delighted that you got to celebrate with your husband today and have a lovely lunch. Well done to you on your 100th parkrun.
Congratulations Sandie1961 . So sorry we couldn’t be there either. I’m glad you did go to Doddington Hall with your club members as I’d asked them to give you a shout out. Hope it happened! Good to hear the piriformis is still behaving itself.
I ran this morning at my local parkrun with my doggie Ruby. It was wet and cold. I chugged along comfortably at a nice relaxed pace and finished in a time of 33:34. No walking breaks. Relaxing now and watching a day of Rugby with the 3 Six Nations matches.
Happy St Patrick’s Day damienair , enjoy the green beer. 🍀🍀🍀
The morning didn’t start well, after I dropped UTS off at the event with the newly changed speaker and the finish token bag, I couldn’t get into my usual free parking space, so turned round and parked next to the prom .
After chatting to the core team about next week’s Food bank run , and hanging out notices, it was time for the briefing. I forgot to start my Garmin and didn’t get a signal until 6 minutes in!
Then happily chatting to a regular volunteer running alongside me, past the halfway point, I remembered I hadn’t paid my parking. I rang UTS , no reply. So then had to go onto the ring go app to pay, so started walking. What a nightmare! Couldn’t find the appropriate meter number so started running again. No penalty notice as I ran past the car into the funnel, but paid for an hour straight away, before getting scanned.
With a parkrun time of 35:51 and a garmin estimate of 34:30, not my best run, but it was lovely to be there on a sunny day with all my running buddies. And even lovelier was to see Coddfish back walking today for the first time since her latest operation. Only 5 more runs until her 250th run!
Good evening on what has been a good day for the guys in green shirts.
Back to Chadderton again for visit number 65 on my 95th parkrun.
It looks like I was a few weeks out on my prediction of hitting 100 about this time. Hopefully I'll be eligible for my black tee shirt by the end of April.
Another getting home late last night leading to rushing to get out in time. It was 3°C outside when I was kitting up just after 8am, but by the time I got to the park it was 9°C. I'd have been better in shorts and thinner layers.
Arrived just in time to hear the Run Director start his spiel. I waved to a few people I recognised and took my usual place near the back.
I started my watch a couple of seconds too soon but decided to let it run.
During the first lap I caught up with one of the regulars, a lady who does a lot of club running. She has been working on a very high cadence (200+ spm). I matched her pace for the whole of the first lap, which caused a bit of amusement to her husband (and their Pomeranians).
Soon after the completion of the first lap I pulled ahead somehow, keeping about the same separation (the lap of the rose garden) for the remaining laps.
We had push chairs, dogs who demanded to go in the river and kids waiting on benches for their parents to catch them up.
I wasn't quite as tired at the end as I had been the previous week and even sped up a little approaching the finish.
As it was so mild I hung around afterwards much longer than previous weeks. I had a couple of people (there's always at least one) asking me about my shoes.
Someone went through the funnel without picking up a token, causing consternation amongst the volunteers.
We had 77 there today, with a spread of finish times from 19 minutes to 49 minutes. I was a little slower than previous weeks, finishing in 30:10.
(Not surprised: I only did two short runs during last week.)
Parkrun finish funnel. It's sunny and there are tree shadows on the path.
A beautiful morning at Portsmouth Lakeside today - someone had even filled in some of our potholes! The only trouble was for every one they'd filled in, two others remained unfilled - perhaps they thought we wouldn't recognise it without a few puddles!
Everything started off OK but after the turnaround it all went downhill and I finished in a disappointing 35.12. Not sure if it was the bad night I had or the 9k on Thursday, building back up to my regular weekly 10k? Not to worry, there's always next week!
Bad nights affect our running badly, so I’m sure that was a one-off disappointing run Jonathan. Doesn’t sound bad to me I must say. 😀 Bring on next week!
Happy St P's everyone. Almost perfect running conditions in my neck of the woods this weekend, so I thought I would try a tempo run. Happy to find I managed my first 70% age grade run of the year. That means the winter training runs have paid off and brought me back to a level of fitness I am happy with. My aim is to see if I can crack 72% this year. Parkrun is such a great institution, don't know where I would be without it.
