Hello Everyone and happy weekend. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

I think that your 5k pace will increase. That happened to me in 2019 when I was working up to HM and starting Park Runs at the same time. I only made 28:17 but that was achieved over 7 Park Runs from a start point of 35 minutes. The added strength and stamina seemed to help. We will watch with interest!
I'm in SW France for a couple of weeks and had been looking forward to getting another international Parkrun under my belt. However, it turns out Parkrun is cancelled throughout the country until further notice due to a piece of bureaucracy that makes it unworkable. Very disappointing. But I've been enjoying a few scenic runs alongside the Dordogne so it's not all bad.
I’m heading out there next week. I was lucky enough to catch the very last Parkrun at Bordeaux, but that was sometime ago. Nice social running group in Eymet if you are near there (mostly English speaking).
Hello damienair and all, we had a formal dinner to go to last night and it involved gin, wine and port, so I thought I’d volunteer as parkwalker instead of running. A friend was celebrating her 300th and requested bright colours to be worn. So I donned my most clashing outfit to comply as well as a purple tutu for international women’s day.
.A dull morning,9C and 25mph easterly made it a chilly one with wind into face to the finish. I will try and get an early night and run RunWalkLocal 5k instead?
Brrr, a bit chilly after the last couple of runs in Lanzarote but at least the mud had dried up considerably since the last time we were in Marple.Mainly walking with just a few jogettes to look after my knee which is much improved.
47.47 - annoyingly close to my elusive 46 for Stopwatch Bingo
Hi Damienair, it was a bit of tourism at Arrow Valley for me today as I’m visiting family in the area for the weekend. I really like this parkrun, which is one long and one shorter lap of the lake. Starting at the back, of course, I initially fell into step with 2 ladies who were walking, one who was recovering from an ankle injury and was on week 6 run 3 of C25K which I was also doing - although she was much faster than me and we didn’t see her again after the 5 minute warm up walk! I set off on my 25 minute run and then walked the remainder where the 2nd lady caught up with me. So in good parkrun style we chatted as we finished and it was lovely! She said she was recovering from an illness which had kept her virtually immobile for 2 years and this was her first time back at parkrun. She had planned to stroll but said she was able to keep about 20 metres behind me all the way with a short run to catch up with me. She then thanked me for being her pacemaker! So a slowish 51:09 PR time (50:45 Garmin!) but I don’t care - apparently I’m a pacemaker!
Hello running friends! Jenny and I were happy that there was no adverse weather to scupper our Severn Bridge PR this morning. It’s been a while since we went. Bit chilly, and a headwind up the bridge, but a thoroughly enjoyable run. I know I’m ok if I can reach the first main strut before the front runner goes flying back down, and today we got there at the same time!
So 37:53 PR time for me which is getting back towards my usual pace after several months of snailing . Jenny and I estimate that we’ll meet in the 36s before long as she’s growing in bump each week! 🥰 Today she was 35:39 and celebrated at the Golden Arches! 😅
Good afternoon Damien and all others who took part in parkrun today, this morning I volunteered for the 12th time, this morning I was a marshall at Palacerigg Country parkrun, the nearest parkrun to where I live, the weather was cloudy but rather cold with at times a fresh east wind, where I was standing there was some shelter from the trees so I wasn't too cold, 66 runners and walkers took part, I had a bell with me and rang it as everyone ran by, excellent atmosphere, once I got back to the finishing line there were a few cup cakes to be ate, I had 2, next week I'll be running there.
That sounds like a lovely intimate parkrun AlMorr ! Gosh that’s about the number of volunteers needed at Eastville with their huge numbers at the moment. I exaggerate of course, but probably not by much! 😅
We had a Fordy Runs meet up at University of Northampton today, so we could get our ‘U’. It was lovely to see so many familiar faces on not such a grand scale as the ‘Extreme parkrun’ meet-ups that we do.
The course is quite new (this was its 30th) and goes through the campus to a lovely little park on the banks of the Nene. It’s a tail, 3 laps, and then back across the tail again. Only thing is there is a nasty little hill in the middle of each of the laps that seems to get progressively harder.
I was happy with my time, which I was told was my fastest this year! So my HM training seems to be paying off, even if it does always feel tough. I was 20th female in a total of 196 runners, so I’m pretty chuffed. Afterwards we all went back to ‘Zapato’s Lounge’ in the city(?) centre, which turned out to be part of the same chain as where we go to at home, which was handy.
10 mile run tomorrow so I will try and take it easier today (like that is going to happen 😆). Have a great week all, happy running 😍😍😍
Amazing TC, you and Katnap are back to your supersonic selves again, both with times and mileage! And alphabet collecting too it seems! Winners all round! 👏👏👏
Hello Everyone. Happy parkrun day. I went to my local parkrun this morning with my doggie Ruby. I was away all week with work, loads of airports, but no running. I was going to walk. But decided to run, jog and walk instead. It was cold, dark but thankfully the rain stayed away. My finish time was 36:11. Now to relax and enjoy the Six Nations.
Hello everyone! No parkrun for me this week, as I am on my way back from a fab week of skiing in Austria (pain and niggle free 👏🥳)
I haven’t really run properly for what seems like months, but next week will be my 💯 come hell or high water, so if anyone fancies a trip to Doddington Hall near Lincoln, it would be great to see you ( Hedgehogs123 ?)
Thankfully the puddles had (nearly) disappeared at Portsmouth Lakeside this morning so it was a good opportunity to continue my journey back towards sub-30. Today's count was 32.21, nearly 30 secs better than last week. I think it may get harder the nearer I get but.......... onwards and downwards!😃
I think it will get easier JP, as you will be fitter with each run. That is what happened when I went from 35 minutes to 28:17 over 7 runs; admittedly that was about 5 years ago! Whatever; you will get there.
I broke my park run cherry today! My FM training plan called for a 5 or 10k race instead of a long run. Closest I could get to a race was a park run.
Off we went to Preston park run (we being Jo the ‘running wife’ who is more or less doing the long runs on my FM plan with me cause she’s daft - not the real one).
There was a field of about 400, wasn’t sure where to place myself in the start line up - hindsight I was too far back. The route is 3x laps of the park - which includes the locally known (to runners) ‘hill of doom’.
Quite enjoyed the event, especially the coffee afterwards - Jo bought it! - my official time was 30:00
Will probably be back for more once the usual Saturday long runs come to an end - next week 29k whilst everyone else is enjoying a PR haha
I was part of a volunteer take over at Stratford today by my running club. We were asked to wear read so I did, from my socks to a rather cheeky red beret!! (I’m in the back of the group so you will struggle to spot me). I was ‘number checker’ , a job I have never done before, it was a great way to see how the funnel team work. I offered to do the token sorting as TailChaser was away but baby-Kat took them to do (what a good lad he is!).
Spotted you Shakes! 👋 Well done keeping up with your running club. I still belong to mine, but try as I might I really don’t like running in the evenings so I haven’t been since early December. 🙄
in my opinion not that well, knees and one foot played up so a bit slower than usual. Ached badly afterwards but a lot better this morning. Need some sunglasses as well!
Still I was out there and faster than those who weren’t as well as being faster than a handful of those taking part so I should look to the positives.
I knocked about 30 seconds off my previous parkrun time yesterday. I had Steve Cram talking to me on the way round as I was doing the speed run from beyond 5km app. I missed the fast run at the end as I was talking to the parkwalker! Oops!
