Time for a plan B

Despite lots of recommendations, the bad news is I just didn’t hit it off with Coach B so I finally decided to call it a day once and for all 😢

The good news is I have found a different 10k plan that I think will suit me very well. ✅

Sadly it is not free but at roughly £1.50 a week (after the free trial) I think it will be money well spent.

I’ve just started week 1 of my sparkly new plan so I’m brim full with optimism.

I did pyramid intervals today - never done these before but I had better heart rate readings (nearly all zone 3 & 4) and I really had fun even if it was drizzly and blowy 😀

I’m feeling totally energised 💪 and maybe just a tad smug 😇

We’re all different-no judgement here! What’s the plan you’re doing? It’s brilliant you’ve found something that suits. Will be really interested to hear how it goes-good luck!

It’s called Runna. I entered my stats eg. What my current times for 5 & 10k are, what my distance target is what days I can exercise and when I want to achieve target.

My plan was ready for me in no time at all. It’s quite flexible and allows you to swap runs or days to fit your own schedule.

Pyramid intervals today suggested speed and interval distances giving live feedback to let me know if I was going too fast/slow etc.

I guess many apps out there offer this sort of thing but the format of this one appealed to me.

Next up for me is Thursday for a straight forward 4K “easy run”

One of my good friends really rates Runna. It sounds like it’s exactly what you want. I wonder if paying also helps with motivation. My gym membership definitely makes me want to go more when I’m wavering!!

Enjoy!!

That's a great point, actually; you INVEST in your running ...

He's not to every one's taste is he? Great that you have found a different plan that suits.

Thanks - looking forward to next one tomorrow except I don’t think the weather is going to be too kind. Will try to find a calm 45mins sometime

It's been raining here all day once again, it can't rain forever although I did see we are expecting high winds again 😔

The forecast I have shows best tomorrow will be between 9am and 10.30 - only 50% chance of rain and “fresh breeze” before strong winds arrive by lunchtime. Will be much better by 7pm but I’m not keen on running after dusk so I’ll just have to brave the weather I think

HUGE well done you... finding what suits us, is the key... For me, the Magic Plan, which I have repeated a few times, works so well.

You are doing well and I look forward to your progress. I am currently and waiting, ( weather is against me right now) to do Week 4 Run 2!

Thanks OF - I’ve done MP a few times just fancied a change. Will keep you posted - all the best with your next one

I agree, coach B is very much chalk and cheese and can be tooooo much... Runkeeper is another alternative to look at if Runna doesn't work out.

Thanks FC - I’ll let you know how it goes as very early days at the moment

Another free alternative is our very own plan, devised and developed by ex forum member Ju-Ju:

Thanks John - I know Ju Ju’s plan very well having done timed version once and distance twice - it is indeed an excellent plan and I too would strongly recommend it but I just fancied something a little different this time
