Any ideas?

Hi fellow runners/joggers/jeffers, I’m after some advice. I graduated Ct5k on 7/5/23. Since then I’ve continued mostly every other day running. I’ve decided to do the NRC 10k I’m on week 4, I’m still doing alternate days so resting as usual.

For the past maybe 2/3 weeks I’ve noticed my left hip won’t turn out externally e.g sat or lay with knees bent & drop left hip out. The right, I’ve no issues, I can lay it out flat to surface. Left just won’t budge past approx 90/100degrees & it’s sore when I try. I’ve tried various stretches & I’ve googled it but not sure it’s any of the hip issues I’ve read!

I will go to my GP or try to get private physio through work. Just wondered if anybody had had similar? Could it be arthritis?

I’m 48yo Female.

thanks in advance ☺️

Going to the doctor is exactly the right thing to do. Us lot here would only be guessing.I had a hip problem last year, loss of mobility but also pain. I suffered for months but a week after seeing my GP and following his advice I was absolutely fine.

Get it checked and save yourself the worry 😁

Your GP might have an NHS physio, I got an appointment within a week 😁

Wow that was quick! I’ll see what GP says too if I can get referred. Thanks

If you have access to a physio, that would be my initial suggestion.

But definitely have it seen by a medical professional.

I’ll start that ball rolling & get a GP appt too. After my jollies tho, I won’t get any opportunity to run on holiday, will be interesting to see if not running has any affect? Thanks for replying 😊

Have you just tried resting for a number of days and seeing if it improves? Suggest seeing a physiotherapist in the first instance. Physiotherapists have much more experience of dealing with aches and pains of this type with articulations and muscles than does a general practioner. My guess is that the physiotherapist will advise you to have an ultrasound or an X ray of the hip. Best of luck.
