Hello Everyone and happy weekend. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

Tasha and I ran the beautiful Mersea Island Parkrun in Essex. A wonderfully serene and friendly Parkrun and we met so many lovely people. The Island gets cut off when the tide comes in. Another fabulous Essex Parkrun ✅
That looks lovely. I love trying new parkrun courses. I must get back to touring soon. So lovely too that you can both do it together and share the experience. Have a lovely weekend both of you.
Burnage for us today. We did this once before but on a temporary course as there was work being done to the paths. This was much nicer - riverside, meadow and woodland followed by sausage barm and tea in the rugby clubhouse.I think we will be back before too long when we fancy a change from the mud or hills of our two nearest parkruns.
I ran at my local parkrun again this morning. It was a beautiful morning and the crowd seemed larger than normal. Loads of families which was great to see. I ran at a nice gentle pace with Ruby. Took two walking breaks to climb the hill. My finish time was 35:48 and Garmin time matched parkrun time. Looking forward to watching Rugby this afternoon.
Good afternoon Damien and all. Katnap , Shake-and-run and myself are currently stuck in a traffic jam on our way back from Rugby parkrun. Stratford was flooded again so we chose Rugby to finish off our Pirates 🏴☠️ Challenge.
It’s a mixed surface course that definitely needs trail shoes. There was a lot of mud and a lot of puddles, it was also quite hilly so definitely a challenge. My trail shoes haven’t got many miles on them and the really proved their worth this morning.
Not very fast but I was 28th female out of a cohort of 176 so I’m happy with that on a tough course.
We’re all hoping that Stratford is dried out for next week as it will be our 7th birthday!
Thank you for the lift. I enjoyed our outing to Rugby. Lovely friendly place. The route was very varied (in a good way) and I’m glad I remembered my trail shoes. Glad to finish at 40 mins and still have enough for a sprint for the line.
I left Southsea to join JonathanP this morning, taking Fenton the Southsea bear with me. I couldn’t believe he has not made it to this parkrun before when he has travelled as far as Ireland and Scotland. This is his 22nd different parkrun.
After the last few days of rain it promised to be muddy and puddly, so there was no surprise there. The RDs order was to run through the puddles but with my slower group it was possible to run around some. However, with runners in the other direction making splashes there was no way of staying clean and dry. Glad I wore trail shoes.
I met JP as he shouted ‘post’ to warn following runners of the post in the middle of the path, and we ran together a while, but his taking it easy was not quite mine.
Scores on the doors reflect the challenge and the fact I jeffed in the 3rd and 4th kms. I did manage a sprint finish overtaking about 5 runners though. UTS would have been proud. parkrun time 36:59, 4th out of 8 in my age group. The first 3 were way out of my league. Garmin time 36:50 .
Another bonus of running today was the year of the dragon badge for the Chinese New Year.
That’s why I got a Dragon Badge today! A very happy looking picture🙂. You chose a challenging running mate and hung in there 👏👏👏👏!
Intervals again for me. 3x7 minutes at 5k pace. Hard work, but it felt good when I had finished! Total distance of 4.59k completed, so intervals will soon hit regulation 5k. Only two shirts today too.
Good afternoon Damien, for the second week in a row I was a marshall at parkrun this morning, last week it was Springburn, today I was a marshall at the nearest parkrun to where I live, Palacerigg Country Parkrun, the weather was misty and a bit dull with light drizzle, because of that there were only 57 people who ran, jogged or walked this 5K trail course, so that's now 10 times that I have volunteered at parkrun since running 100 parkruns, 7 as tailwalker and 3 as a marshall, next Saturday I intend to run at Dunfermline parkrun in Fife and in two weeks time I am booked to be the tailwalker at Springburn parkrun in Glasgow.
Well done Al. Fair play to you for volunteering this morning. I’m sitting here shouting for Scotland, I can’t believe France managed to go 1 point ahead. 5 mins to go.
PR no 150 for me today. I didn’t take Flossie as she has a pal staying over for 10 days and I couldn’t leave him at home alone. 🐕
I had intended on doing W7R1, but Denise Lewis left me high and dry during the warmup walk (timed ideally for the first of the hills) and never returned to tell me to get running. No worries, I’ll do it tomorrow.
Instead, I ran most of the rest but walked the hills as I wasn’t up for those today. We’d been out to see our niece’s new drummer boyfriend playing in his band last night, so we were down with the kids with a massive Indian meal, beers and G&Ts. It wasn’t a late night, but if I’m not in my PJs by 7pm, it feels like one! (I am a serious lightweight!) 😅
742 turned out today. The high numbers continue. Big bonus was the ☀️😍
Congratulations to you CC on running 150 parkruns this morning, a very good milestone for you, that's a lot of runner's, 742, I was a marshall at parkrun this morning when only 57 ran, jogged and walked at Palacerigg Country Parkrun today.
Shame there’s no teeshirt for 150 AlMorr . We’ve had high numbers all this year so far. Higher than before lockdown, and I don’t really know what’s changed to make Eastville so popular. 🤷♀️
I need to volunteer again soon, it’s been a while. Good for you for marshalling this morning. 😀
PS CC, I. noticed a parkrun which is one of the hardest in Scotland, namely Drumchapel parkrun on the outskirts of Glasgow had 26 runners and 17 volunteers.
... and another parkrun in Glasgow who have an average of 300 runners struggles every week to get volunteers, in fact one week it was cancelled because there weren't enough volunteers.
Thanks Damien. I have to admit I didn’t realise it was my 150th until the results came through. I knew I was close though. 😅 It was a fun evening - but aren’t those bands loud? 😳
Thanks BC! I was pretty impressed with myself for turning up I have to admit. 😇 And thanks for the 🏅. It’s taking pride of place on my virtual medal hanger! 🙏
Finally got round to doing my local Parkrun today, on checking it's the first one I've done since July! Boy was it wet underfoot, but well worth getting out there.
I'm just a slob, I mean night owl. I tend to get up later, especially in winter, so getting my act together by 9am is a struggle. I had enough of that when I worked in an office 😁
Back to Portsmouth Lakeside this morning after a 3 week break due to flooding - home sweet home! Quite hard going with a lovely selection of puddles to choose from and a still there but improving piriformis niggle - managed 34.50 with perfect positive splits.🫤 Great to chew the fat with Dexy and Fenton afterwards - though Fenton didn't say a lot......😜
🤣 it was lovely hearing everyone say hello to you as you ran along. It’s definitely like one big happy family who were delighted to be back where they belong.
I did my 48th parkrun yesterday, but slower than usual, got a ankle that's a bit sore but I managed. I had a lovely moment, this lady ran past me, and said well done with your jogging, then looked back and came past again to say thanks for marshalling at the half marathon last week! She'd recognised me. I thought that was so nice of her.
Parkrun number 97/RED Feb Day 10 for me yesterday. Still in a lot of pain from my piriformis, so jeffed it in 38.15, my slowest ever. Got a physio appointment tomorrow, so I’ll see then if I can still plan for 💯 next month or if I need to take some time out 😢
That’s my backstop Dexy. Jeffing it was more bearable, so might be the way to go for the next 2. Then I’m off skiing, so hoping the smoother motion won’t affect me the same way. 😞
It is a really frustrating injury Sandie1961 . It’s funny but I don’t remember when mine actually cleared but I know speedy running made it worse. It then disappeared without me realising.
I went to Sunny Hill parkrun yesterday. It definitely lived up to its name. Those hills would put Hampstead or Brockwell to shame. I had to walk up some of them. Overall, an enjoyable experience, but not sure I'm keen to run up those hills again anytime soon.
It was also my 40th parkrun. 10 more and I get a new t-shirt
A very small junior woman scorched the course for first place in under 18 minutes at my parkrun. I'm sure I heard a Doppler effect as she lead the pack back towards the rest of us and then zoomed past.
Hello... gosh it is a while since I was here... my NOT park run...?
Yesterday, thick fog, uphill and a chill in the air... a ghost dog, a grinning fog monster and an eerie playground with empty swings, moving gently, in a non existent breeze... !
Did I enjoy it?
Flipping Marvellous... 5K done...last time?
June 2023... a month before Mr OF's heart attack. 40 minutes.
Yesterday? 45 minutes... That will do me very well... Yeay!!!! :)x
I plodding/walked/jogging around my parkrun with my boyfriend. I realised halfway round that today was my last parkrun for about 6 months my pregnancy body just couldn't run. I might walk it occasionally but I think I'll volunteer instead from now on.
