Hello Everyone and happy weekend. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

Hi damienair & other park runners, (not) parkrunners,
Hubby & I volunteered today at our Christmas park run. It was a hot one. I was tail Walker & Hubby marshalled. Some great costumes & festive spirit.
Thankful for our local park running community & our park running weekly post here. Thank you to all who contribute & encourage me each week with your park running adventures. Big shout out to damienair for all his hard work.
A choir friend of mine persuaded me to do Ashton Court this week! And I said yes. 🤦♀️ I’ve been non-stop with carol concerts, work and a cold all week (voice gone today), so AC wasn’t the ideal choice, but being a woman of my word I went along. 😇
However, to make it palatable, I went armed with a secret weapon - my 11 year old pup, who doesn’t run 5k on the lead any more. 🥰Flossie donned her jingle bells collar, I donned my antlers and some tinsel, and we went for a jolly walk/jog together! Plenty of festive costumes to be seen and it was lovely. We met Jenny there too, and even she ran/walked the hill - but we got out! 🙏
Thanks Mudita11 ! It’s surprisingly hard to get a selfie with a dog, and almost impossible to get them to look at the camera, let alone show off their jingle bells collar! 😅 Merry Christmas to you too, and look forward to seeing you in 2024! 🥰
This morning I walked at my local parkrun. It was my first bit of exercise since my fall two weeks ago. I’m still in some pain but I’m recovering and the pain is subsiding. The two visits to the physio have helped. I brought along Ruby my Cocker Spaniel, she was delighted to be back at parkrun again. I took my time and walked along with a lovely lady who was doing her very first parkrun. We chatted all the way and I took Ruby off the lead for the last lap as all the runners had finished. She had a great run and sniff and is now exhausted and asleep on the couch. Happy Christmas everyone 😁.
Poor Ruby, she looks so tired after her parkwalk and run with you, I am so happy to know that you are recovering from that fall a few weeks ago, well done for your walk with the tailwalker this morning, happy Christmas 🤶 🎄 🎶 ✔️
A gorgeous picture of Ruby Damienair! Such has been my poor attendance here on the forum of late, I didn’t even realise you were injured! I’m sorry to hear that and send you good wishes for a speedy recovery!
Well I volunteered for First Timers briefing. I had one to begin with, who had already done one parkrun, then another 2, then another one turned up, so it was a bit odd and I still didn’t get to the end of my blurb 😅. Still, they seemed to get round ok! The Tourist briefing person had a lot more than me!
We had 446 at Stratford today, which is the second highest this year, and it felt like it, we’re really not used to it anymore. I have the tokens to sort this afternoon so I’ll have to find a nice Christmas film to watch whilst I’m doing it!
My reindeer outfit was a bit unstreamlined and fought against the wind, so it was quite tiring, and pretty hot towards the end. However, not as bad as youngest kitten who was dressed as a Christmas Womble (a request from our co-Even Director!), he ended up having to walk as he just melted in his fluffy onesie 🥵. Still, we did ok all things considered, although I was second of three in the Reindeer category as the third reindeer was a DNF leaving her dad to sprint off and overtake me at some speed!
Now to make the chocolate volcanoes for our early Christmas meal tomorrow - they have to sit in the fridge for 24 hours. Youngest kitten has a shift on Christmas Day so we’re having it a day early.
Thank you to Damien, Al and everyone who makes this post a wonderful read every week! Have a fabulous Christmas and looking forward to more in ‘24! 🏃♂️🎅😍🎄
Epic as always TC and Kat fam. I’m impressed - it was definitely a warm one today, and I felt for all the people who’d gone the whole hog with their festive outfits. But a Womble? Kudos to youngest kitten! 🥵 👊😂
Well done TC and family. The pics of you all yesterday were fantastic. Great effort dress up. Have a wonderful Christmas and thank you too. I love reading these posts every weekend. We’ve built up a nice parkrun family here too.
Hello Damienair and runny people, it was chilly and windy in Southsea and I had a log sleeved top and my reindeer run shirt and antlers on. It didn’t take long to realise I’d have to carry those antlers! Lots of festive fancy dress from Santas to turkeys. 34:15 parkrun time and 33.36 Garmin. 3rd in my age group of 5. Such a lovely atmosphere today.
I’ve just realised that I ticked off a Stopwatch Bingo last week - only 2 to go…
Breakfast with Mr & Mrs Coddfish , UpTheStanley and Oldgirlruns made the morning complete.
Ha ha. On checking the stats, one of them is a Southsea runner who wasn’t here for the last 2 weeks when I was 1st in age group. I think I know what she looks like so I will try and start closer to her next time. 😂
The other one is a Lee on the Solent and Lakeside runner who has run sub 30 last month - no chance. In fact she may have been my fellow reindeer!
Happy parkrun day to all. I got up early and drove to Southampton to walk with a little running parkrun with Mudita11 we had a great time, tried a bit of running but still a bit chesty so not much, came in at a little over 51 minutes, happy Christmas damienair and Parkrunners, not forgetting the amazing volunteers
Sorry bit late with my report but getting last minute presents. I never want to venture into another shop (well this side of Christmas)
Tourist run at Hastings. An out and back along the prom. Was going great guns until the half way turning point when it was straight into a headwind. Felt like I was running on the spot.
Anyway that said I was super pleased with my time 33.25.
Spotted an old work acquaintance who I’ve not seen in a few years and she was marshalling so we had a good natter.
Hoping to be at Worthing Parkrun on Christmas Day if SueAppleRun is around ?
First Timer welcome (twice! ) then Barcode Scanning for me. There were some very muddy legs arriving at the finish but we will have to brave it ourselves on Monday.
Marshaling at juniors tomorrow, once we have worked out a slight diversion due to a massive branch and debris blocking the approach to the finish funnel.
Unless we extend a fair way out I predict alot of pbs tomorrow!
Good afternoon Damien and fellow (not) parkrunners.
Back for the weekend and I did my 90th parkrun (60th at Chadderton).
As seems to have happened more often than not, the morning's rain stopped for the duration of the parkrun.
We had a group of visitors from the Rochdale Triathlon Club bulking out our numbers to 76 today.
There were several people in Christmassy outfits. Not me, though.
A group of us were chatting at the back and nearly missed the Run Director give the signal to go.
I stayed at a steady pace throughout the first lap, letting one of the regulars set the pace. On the second lap she started to tire and slow, and my legs had warmed up by then. I gradually pulled ahead.
The final lap (of four) proved to be a bit of a slog. I did tiny steps up the S-shaped climb, though didn't change my cadence.
The pair ahead of me whom I'd shadowed for much of the second half of the run found a little extra energy and pulled away at the end.
I finished a few seconds faster than last week. I then hung around and chatted with a few people, overhearing at one point one of the triathlon club describing a friend's tri-suit splitting catastrophically during an event.
Dry but with a stiff breeze at Lakeside this morning. Having worn my Santa hat last week, it was back to normal this week - once a year is enough!😜
Had managed to get back to a slow 10k in the week and felt like it could be a good run today, so did a proper warm up jog. Everything seemed to go smoothly and came in at 31.42 knocking 1.08 off my post-hernia PB.😀
You’re going to be 💥💥💥💥💥 in 2024 Jonathan! Epic. I bet it feels great! We’ll forgive you for not wearing your Santa hat yesterday because it’s you, but …….. thot was a bit naughty! Hope Santa still visits you …. 🤞😅
Change of scene to meet up with a friend at Doddington Hall this morning. Still finding the breathing hard and had to take some walking breaks, but now being investigated medically, and we had the dreaded Doddington headwind from 4.3k, so 35.15 today. But parkrun number 92 so only 8 to go. Happy Christmas everybody 🎄
Still can’t find my running mojo anywhere Damienair so I decided to do some festive barcode scanning at Southsea instead, wearing my reindeer antlers of course! We had a turnout of 307, with lots of Christmas outfits and headgear to brighten the rather gloomy and very windy morning. I’ll be doing more of the same next week and probably again on New Year’s Day and after that I’ll be back on the C25K trail I think! In the meantime, I wish everyone a very happy Christmas and have a great New Year!
I’m in your club Oldgirlruns as you know! This last couple of months have been a trial for me running-wise, to say the least and I’m hoping to find my mojo again in 2024. Let’s make a pact to find it together. Deal? 👊
Have a wonderful Christmas in the meantime, and here’s to a happy 2024. ❤️
Well done and thank you for volunteering. I’ll be in the same boat as you. Back starting from scratch again in the New Year. I’m Volunteering tomorrow for Christmas parkrun. Have a lovely Happy Christmas.
852 festive participants at Trentham Park Run. I was joined by my sister and her daughter-in-law. It was a bit blustery with a head wind most of the way round. My PR buddy was on her 51st run and beat me by 2 minutes! D-in-Law was tripped up by a dog on a waist lead (which are not allowed at our PR). She wasn't hurt but the owner didn't stop to make sure she was OK. We all made it to the finish - me last of yhe bunch as usual!
I’m sorry you had an irresponsible dog owner at PR yesterday Bruch1 . Waist leads aren’t allowed at PR across the board, so I hope someone reported that owner, both for the illegal lead and for the fact they didn’t stop to check all was ok. I’m glad your daughter-in-law wasn’t injured, but that’s not the point is it? Being a dog owner I get quite cross at the numbskulls out there (can you tell?)
I did different parkrun location 30 in Northallerton which takes me to 184 altogether. GTFC did cleethorpes as he was going to the match after an Xmas date with his kids.
