Hasn't it been rainy? This is doubly offputting as (1) I don't like cold water and (2) I don't like mud, which means the majority of my favourite routes are no go at the moment, they are quagmires. This leaves the paths.
On the plus side, it's very pretty round here so no excuses today, it was almost dry and a balmy 5C so off we went.
What to wear? I've decided I don't really like my long sleeved running shirt. The fabric has a cold feel. If I wanted to be cold I'd wear short sleeves. Instead I plumped for the thermal top I wore yesterday. It's new and sparkly and it saves the environment as it needed a wash anyway.
The ground was damp and there was a bit of drizzle, but not so that you'd really notice. I realised I was running quite quickly and was pleased as it meant I'd be home earlier.
When I reached the path by the marina it was time to test the 'run through the puddles and avoid the mud' strategy. I am pleased to report that it seems to work. The shock of the cold water wasn't ideal but, as predicted, my feet soon warmed up as it was wicked away by my socks. The strategy has been modified though, to try and run through the shallower bits of the puddles as that way there is less splashing of the legs.
Once home I stripped off all my wet clothes and put on a nice warm fluffy dressing gown, as that was more or less what Coach Bennett advised on the Cold Weather Run.
When I checked NRC I saw that I am less than 5km away from having run 1000 km since I started using the app so maybe a milestone next time I run
PS why is it that whenever I see a photo of myself running it just looks like I'm walking?? ๐
