Hello Everyone and happy weekend. Today is parkrun day, a free 5K event which takes place every Saturday morning all around the world. It is for everyone, slow, fast, able, disabled, big, small and everyone in between. Oh and don't forget about the super Mum's and Dad's who push their babies in buggies. You can walk, jog, run, run/walk, it's not a race, just a run in the park and loads of us here on Bridge to 10K do it religiously every Saturday morning.
Some of us may not be able to do a parkrun at the moment so until parkrun returns fully for everyone some of us will continue to take part on our own in a Virtual parkrun every Saturday morning called a (not)parkrun. Or if you are away on Holidays, prefer to run on your own, or do not have a parkrun close by you a (not)parkrun is perfect, please feel free to join in. Please post a little run report after your parkrun or (not)parkrun and let everyone know how you got on. The little run report can be done over a post parkrun coffee and treat/cake. (parkrun is all about the after run coffee and cake, and meeting friends old and new).
If you are a new graduate and would like to start, all you have to do is run, walk or jog at a parkrun or a 5K run/jog/walk (not)parkrun anytime today or tomorrow and write a little run report under this post. It's like a little community and it is good fun, sets you up nicely for the weekend. If you want to you can register on the parkrun website and you can log your 5K (not)parkrun. In fact you can log any 5K done during the week as a (not)parkrun.
For anyone whom has not done a real parkrun yet and if it is available to you, give it a try. It is the most wonderful community event. Saturday mornings will never be the same again.
Looking forward to hearing from all of you who ran in real proper parkruns and (not)parkruns. Happy running and have a lovely weekend.

No parkrun for me this weekend. I’m away with family in a Center Parcs resort. Just after arriving in the car park yesterday afternoon I slipped and came down on my side with my arm by my side. I bruised my ribs on my right hand side and I’m in agony. Absolute nightmare. I won’t be doing a parkrun again for a while. I’ll volunteer next week. Happy running everyone.
Oh no! So sorry about your fall. Hoping Center Parcs can provide some nice distractions and you heal really soon. Sending masses of good wishes your way! ❤️
It cost a fortune and I didn’t see anything. I’m at home now resting up. I was miserable and in a lot of pain. I just wanted to go home. I’m comfortable and happy here. My lovely wife and my 2 boys are enjoying themselves at Center Parc.
You really want to know damienair ? 😅 It was only because a friend was doing her 100th at Pomphrey Hill today that I dragged my mojo-less being along! Quicker than the last time I did it, but did I enjoy it? I’ll leave it for you to decide. 😂
Yes I’m pleased I went along, but I still didn’t get the running buzz though Damien. It’s been a while since I had that. But I’m not injured so I mustn’t grumble. 🙏
Decided that Marple would be too muddy (they had 54 brave souls, lowest ever attendance) so we went to Hyde. Raining quite hard so we joined the other runners under the shelter of the bandstand from where we had a good view of the First Timer Welcome volunteer standing all alone.
The RD went down from the bandstand to give us his briefing. Then there was nothing for it but to leave the shelter and start running.
However the rain eased then stopped. Hat, gloves and even jacket had to be removed by the third lap.
I had to run it all today because I realised the Tailwalker was right behind me All the marshals were cheering us on and telling me I was giving her a good workout today.
By the end someone was between us, unfortunately he had fallen so was walking and running.
As we walked back to the car the rain started but it eased again for us to get to and from the all-important 2nd breakfast. We just had time to load the junior parkrun kit in the car ready for tomorrow before the next shower.
Then I checked my emails to find that I have volunteers for the last spaces on the roster for tomorrow
Hope our luck holds out weather-wise this afternoon as we will be playing our ukuleles for a Christmas Lights switch on, but I don't think we will stay dry.
Are you on the parkrun Breakfast Facebook page Sue? There was a Marple breakfast on there today - far superior to what I had this morning, much more like what my cooked breakfast fantasy had dreamed of 😋 I really shouldn’t look at that page!
No, I haven't heard of that one. But I am guessing it was Libby's - they do a nice breakfast. We went to one near home because there isn't much nearby in Hyde unless you drive to Morrisons.
The ukulele session was good, but cold fingers by the end. The weather was completely different to home (only a mile or so distant), no rain and not as wild.
Good afternoon Damien, before I report my run this morning I got a message from parkrun headquarters thanking me for volunteering at Palacerigg parkrun, I wasn't even there.
This morning I ran my 41st parkrun at Dunfermline, (103rd altogether) in a time of 33:52 which I am very pleased with considering that due to very cold weather recently I only run slow 3K 's around the park near to where I live, this morning the weather was mild so it was fine to run 5K after not running that distance for around 3 weeks.
I reported that mistake on Palacerigg parkruns Facebook page, there was a mixup because of last weeks cancellation due to snow, they have corrected that, I have not been credited with volunteering at Palacerigg parkrun this morning.
Good afternoon Damien and all. Just about dried off and warmed up. Tokens also dried and sorted!
150th parkrun today in torrential rain and wind at Stratford today. Also did my 200th volunteer role, pre-settuping… couldn’t just do token sorting in the dry could I??! 😅 So I took my biggest coat and a change of shoes. All was good in the end.
Just under 31 minutes. My choice of shoes wasn’t best for the conditions as I had to be careful across the grass/mud. We also had numerous swans and geese who insisted on regularly crossing the course by the river and leaving mounds of 💩to dodge 😅 I don’t know what they’ve been eating but it can’t be good for them! Gave up with the puddles and just ran through them. 184 others also ran with me, but that is very low for Stratford.
Also volunteered for close down…why do I do it???? Still, we had to wait for a marshalling Shake-and-run anyway as we went for a very nice cooked breakfast afterwards. Well deserved all round I think.
Milton Keynes Winter HM tomorrow. I hope the weather isn’t quite as bad 🤞
Well done and congratulations on your 150th parkrun and your 200th volunteer event. That’s fantastic. Best wishes and enjoy your Half Marathon tomorrow.
Hello Everyone, I was in 2 minds this morning because it was absolutely pouring down when the alarm went off. But UTS had planned to run today for the first time in ages. So to provide a bit of moral support I got into running gear. I ran in my Fluor running jacket but it stopped raining after the start. It came in handy with that 33 mph wind. The benefit of our new route is the wind behind us on the run home.
Run no 3 of my 12 runs of Christmas complete. 1st in my age group of 3 as one walked and one parkwalked. I was just 1 second of 1 of my 3 remaining stopwatch bingo targets - how frustrating is that?
We went home to shower and change before heading out again for newspapers , coffee and paninis.
I'm sure that change of direction for the final furlong makes a big difference Dexy - nothing worse than battling against the wind as you're sprinting for the finish
No parkrun for me this morning as we were meeting a friend for pre-Christmas coffee and cake - the weather had nothing to do with it!😜 However I was pleased on Thursday to manage 7k in my bid to get back to running 10k - soon come, I'm sure!
Sorry to hear about your fall damienair & missing all the family fun. That must be so disappointing for everyone. Hope you heal quickly 👍🏻
All 5 boys at park run today & our cocker spaniel so I didn’t run.
Hubby got 25:31 & no.1 son & no.2 son ran together & came in at 21:33.
All boys jumped in the water afterwards & got to swim with a dolphin. No photograph as the Cocker Spaniel was not happy to not be allowed onto the beach & was being a total pain.
I was going to resume my UK parkruns at Market Rasen today, but the rain was torrential and the wind blowing strongly when I woke up so I wimped out. Doesn’t take much currently and suffering from post epic holiday blues ☹️ Need to sort myself out and reset!
enjoy the Christmas period with your family and friends Sandie1961 and don’t worry about the running until after the break. A day without snow or rain might help.
Trotted through my non Park run about an hour after the real one - very very windy and squelchy underfoot but much warmer than last week and a little faster so be all good. Sorry to hear about your fall. I fell downstairs and broke my ribs a few years ago and the pain was worse than childbirth! Keep deep breathing- you do not want pneumonia as well. Get well soon
damienair I think you cheer up and inspire lots of people on here. Over the years I've thought 'He's a great guy' and one day we'd both like to meet you. Rest up and take good care; as all the replies show, your VRB's are right behind you 💚
