My Forerunner 45 is nearly 3 years old and has a few quirks I have to accommodate: leaving it outside on a window ledge for a couple of minutes to catch a passing satellite. More annoying, I have to ensure there is at least 60% battery before setting off as, three times this year, she’s just died on me mid-run.

But can someone tell me: is all this wealth of information collected over 3 years that I can read on my phone or tablet really kept inside that little watch? Doesn’t it fill up?

Have you been using the Garmin Connect app? All my data is stored for there.

Oh yes! But does the watch dump all that information onto the app, or still retain it?

Its just an idea but could you try doing a reset?, this resets to as it was new and I assume clears out all the data (still retained on Garmin Connect). I've not tried this and I'm no expert but just an idea 🙂

My Forerunner 45 is a couple of years old and I just decided to check your question.

If you press the middle button on the left you get a menu. Choose 'history' and 'previous weeks' and it will give you details of your activities. Mine goes back as far as July 2021 when I got my original watch (was replaced under warranty a little while later).

Hello  HeavyFoot . I’m not sure the watch contains all the runs you have done. Looking at the history on my Forerunner 35, it only goes back as far as 14th October. So I assume it only keeps the latest runs. Forerunner 45 might be different, or maybe I changed the settings . Once you sync your watch to Garmin Connect it is all kept on there. The app is a mine of information for those who like all the stats. Mine syncs to Strava too. The watch does seem to keep details of your records though, such as fastest 1k, 5k, 10k and longest run.

There are times when GPS connection is a bit slow, but tends to be geographical. I’ve always managed to get a signal by the time I’ve walked to my start point.

Some of the earlier watches only stored 12 or so runs, then began to overwrite them, some of the newer ones will store a few hundred. It depends on the watch. You could look on the Garmin website to see what yours does...my 245 only clears off data every few months or so

My 35 only stores a few runs; it hasn’t given me much trouble. I have to find a satellite before I walk down hill to the start of many of my runs. Occasionally, usually when there is thick cloud, I have to walk across a road as well before it picks up. Maybe the window ledge isn’t the best spot 🤷🏻‍♂️

Hey Heavy I had a scout around and I also have a Forerunner 45. As far as I can gather it stores 200 hours of activity. Also from what I have read, any activities that have been previously synced to Garmin Connect would still be available on Garmin Connect. So you can delete runs from the watch whenever you like and still access on Connect as long as been synced... My battery is getting a little weaker after 3 years also...I think that is just the nature of the beast...anyway hope that helps cheers........

I changed my 4 year old garmin recently as the battery could no longer do a long run. My full run history is still on Garmin Connect.

Definitely on Garmin Connect. That has the info from my previous watch too.
