On a long weekend in Hampshire, I decided to make my Sunday run along the Test Way between Stockbridge and Horsebridge and back. About 9 km.
It was brass monkey weather with the path, trees and fields glistening with thick frost. Lovely. But my Garmin didn’t want to play. After 5 minutes it still hadn’t found a satellite, so I just set off. It was a fabulous run.
It turned out that the watch only clocked on at 2k. The biggest surprise was its registration of altitude. It turned an almost flat track into the Grand Canyon!
Has anyone else had such a freak result?

Stockbridge is a lovely little town, what a nice route to run! The Mayfly pub nearby is lovely especially in the summer 😊. It was definitely cold yesterday though, but I bet it looked wonderful. Perhaps the cold confused Mr Garmin? 😁
We are a bit embarrassed to admit we spent an hour and a half looking for the car at Goodwood last year only to find we were in the wrong field! And when I checked Garmin when I got home it had automatically started a walk from the car to the track in the morning so if I'd looked it showed exactly where the car was, lesson learned, I always set a walk off in strange places
I once landed at Paris Charles de Gaulle and after a long search decided that my car had been stolen from the airport car park. It was whilst declaring the theft at the police station that I remembered I had flown out of Paris Orly. No Garmins in those days.
I used to have a convertible car. One morning I saw that someone had slashed the roof. I was just about to cry when I realised my car was on the other side of the road, the vandalised car was its twin brother.
