10k run with new Garmin

I finally relented this week and got a Garmin - a Forerunner 45 Plus. I’ve had a Fitbit for many years and upgraded to a Charge 4 just after I started C25K. My wife mocked me, using a rather rude word that rhymes with Fit!! I’ve stuck with it and found it useful. However, the Garmin today has been great. Programmed a workout that included a 5 minute warm up, a 10k run and a 5 minute cool down. All went swimmingly! And to cap it all - my fastest 10k at 57.40. I couldn’t be more pleased. And my wife couldn’t be more smug!

My wife is a big Garmin fan and so far, I’m really pleased with it. Also really pleased with the 10k time. Not bad for a 68 year old!

Yes, I hadn’t fully realised how limited the Fitbit was, until I started looking properly at the Garmin.

Welcome to the wonderful world of Garmin 😊

Well done. That is a great pace. The Garmin 45 is a lovely watch. I have the older model the 35. What I love about Garmin is the accuracy. A couple of my friends have Fitbits and they can be out by 300-400 meters over 5K. Meaning you have to run an extra little bit to make up the 5K according to the Fitbit. Hence the reason why you are in for a few PB’s.

Thanks, Damien I had wondered about the Fitbit’s accuracy. I’ll enjoy the PBs while I can - however they have been achieved!
