I wasnβt sure if I was really looking forward to running in the heat! The forecast was saying 22 degrees (turned out to be more like 24).
I joined Laraβs Jeffing group again and this evening there were just 3 of us doing this run, so βinto the forest we went to lose our minds and find our soulsβ. It was glorious! And much cooler in there. I tried not to think about the inclines; they were definitely quite challenging. We were running on some of the trails that are part of the Parkrun. I definitely want to do more running in the woods!
My legs certainly had a workout with the inclines, but because we were Jeffing, my heartrate stayed in Zone 4, so I was happy with that. It was difficult to tell if itβs still elevated, I wonβt know until I do a slow run on the flat.
All in all I really enjoyed this run!
I recently bought a running vest with pockets for drinks, etc. but thought it might be overkill on a 3K run π€£ so didnβt wear it today, but looking forward to wearing it on my next longer run!
Pic was taken by Lara and is typical of the woodland in and around the beautiful Swinley Forest.

Thank you, Brian. Iβve never been able to do it before! Too worried about running alone and getting lost. As soon as I entered the woods it was like someone turned the world off! π
Yes, I think I could be! Running with the club has opened that door, and although tonight was only 3K twisting and turning in what was not a huge area, there are longer runs with this club that go deeper into Swinley Forest. Iβll need to get my pace up a bit though!
Hi Jools, Just off out for a brief pre-work workout: so encouraging to read your posts...bit by bit, getting there, target is back to 16k by new year...where I was two (or was it three?!?!) years ago!...but probably slightly slower...π π€¦ββοΈ
Slower doesnβt matter, though, does it? Bit by bit is what I work to! Slow progress is still progress and it gets me out of the house and keeps me smiling π
16K is a great target! Keep up with the workouts and I know youβll get there.
That looks lovely-a path begging to be run!I would be very interested know what running vest you have and how you get on with it- it's one of those things that I keep wondering about , researching and then forgetting about until the next long, hot run!
I found some reviews of a cheaper Aonijie vest on Amazon. This is a 5.5 litre vest with a number of options of a bladder and various bottles. I just bought the basic vest (Β£26.99) as I already have a couple of useful smaller bottles. I donβt intend running a lot of ultras so thought this one might do! Iβll let you know my thoughts once Iβve used it π
