Take time to smell the flowers

I’m still here - pottering around in week 4 again/still 😆. No rush as I’m finding life and weather getting in the way. I know everyone says it but I’m retired and busier than ever! However, I digress.

When I first started running 5 years ago I’d notice a most gorgeous smell and not around any gardens. Turns out it was these tiny lime flowers! Absolutely amazing and how come I’d never noticed it before? 🤷‍♀️ Please look out for them.

Yes, we should always make time to smell the flowers Sybilw 🌺🌼 Not really noticed these either. I will look out for them.🙂

The flowers are hard to spot but the overall appearance of the tree changes as there are long light green bracts too. Once you notice it you wonder how you missed it before!

ah ha. I went to Hampton Court Garden Festival this week, and these were planted in the grounds. Oldgirlruns and I thought they might be limes but had never seen the blossom before. Thank you for the expert info.

I agree, where does time go? Going out smelling the roses I guess.

I’ve just checked and you’re right - it’s lime! I’m so sorry, I’ll edit my post 😔 Still a glorious smell.

That might account for why I had very ‘gummy eyes’ that evening Dexy!

Tillia, pick them and dry for hot drinks that taste of summer in the winter.

They are pretty aren’t they? And unfortunately give me hay fever!

I can’t understand how I’ve missed them all these years. I’d say they’re not common where I grew up but I’ve been in my current house for over 30 years! 😆

must go out and smell. We have a lime tree but never noticed the smell. Maybe the branches were always too far up!

Well done on your week 4! No matter how often you repeat each week, as - 🎶 all chant with me please 🎶- a run is a run! 🤣👏😃😁

I’m no longer worrying about times or distances but just enjoying getting out there. Do I still record time and distance? Of course I do!!

Week 4 is a great place to go back to. My schedule has slipped, ( I've been swimming to compensate), and was seriously considering going back to W4 and building up again.
