MAY QUEST 2023-WEEK 3…are you still on track??

Well..who can believe we’re on week 3 already?? Whoosh…before we know it we’ll all be complaining it’s too warm for running 🤣

How are you all doing?

If you’re ticking off lists like  MissUnderstanding I am taking the inspiration from you this week..my quest is still flagging…getting home at 6pm…making tea for my family & then rushing to the hospital to see my sister-in-law for about 20 minutes and then dashing home means there’s no time left..it’s soooooo frustrating!!! I know my time will come when everything goes back to some sort of normal…I usually get a run in early morning but today and tomorrow I have early morning driving tests so picking pupils up at 7am!! If my quest was to juggle life then, at the moment, I would be nailing it…instead I am reading & enjoying all of your quests and the goals you are all reaching…

I was amazed at the HUHM planning and coordinating…and all the people who took or are taking part…which leads me onto my quest…I would like to complete the HUHM/10k before the deadline…so there, I’ve said it…it’s been YONKS since I ran a 10k so I might be slow but that’s what I ‘d really like to do this week…

Whatever you’re up to or whatever you’ve achieved so far, WELL DONE…you’re amazing…good luck everyone for this week…

If you have recently graduated here is what the quest is all about…

What is the Quest?

The aim of the Quest is to help you find a focus or goal that you would like to achieve by the end of the Quest period.

The Quest takes one calendar month. You can join at any point during that time.

You need, please, to be a C25K Graduate before joining the Quest.

The reason for this is that pre-graduation your week is very much structured according to the C25K programme, and I wouldn't want the Quest to interfere with that.

Most popular goals are:

★ To run three times a week

★ To slowly increase distance

★ To train for a specific race

★ To add strength and flex exercises to your weekly routine.

This is a personal challenge, so it's completely up to you!

If you want to join, all you have to do is comment below with something like:

“I would like to join the quest”, or, “count me in! I would like to...”

So come and join us…doesn’t matter when you come on board…

Have a fantastic week

MC x

I would like to join the quest for what’s remaining of May. I would like to jog twice a week, walk three times a week and do my strength and balance exercises three times a week. 💪

The simple answer is"no" my quest isn't on track.... WelI suppose I could say partly ontrack as I think, although I've almost forgotten, one quest was to run two 10ks and I am sitting still in my shorts having just run one 👍The other part of the quest was to get back to doing more S&F , week 1 was OK but week 2 was a disaster with only a bit of yoga done at the start. But each day is a new beginnings so I'll keep my fingers 🤞 for this being a better week.

I hope you manage to steal a bit of time to get out soon, but I know from personal experience how difficult it is to juggle work, home, family and hospital visits especially if it's a bit of a trek to the hospital.

hey, listen dijep …whatever you’re doing I’m sure you’re doing what you can …just like me…and that’s better than sitting in the couch 😉😉 keep up the good work 😇

hi Mummycav , all on course with me. Last week I nailed my first 50 minute run and the NRC Next Speed Run - great fun! Got this week's 20 minute run under my belt yesterday, with second 50 minute run on the cards for tomorrow. Also managed Pilates twice last week (an improvement) and just finished this week's first Pilates before typing this.

It’s so hard when life is busy! Hope your sister in law isn’t in hospital for too long-wishing her a full and fast recovery.

This week started well and went downhill sharply yesterday. I’ve had some good workouts at the gym and really enjoyed trying out some new classes. I’ve been for a swim. I’ve ticked off my physio exercises every day and even added some new massage balls to my stretching kit. I’ve had some lovely, pain free runs and was all geared up for 7km when yesterday on the treadmill, knee pain was suddenly back full force after only 2km run. Gutted! I stopped immediately and stretched. Driving home was uncomfortable but possible (thank goodness) but a few hours later, I could still only make it five minutes over to the shop with a break on a bench. I’m not even looking at the goals I set last week because it’s too miserable being back on the injury couch,

I knew this might happen but it’s quite demoralising. It’s only been five weeks since the injury and apparently this kind of setback is common. The new plan is to rest from running until the pain is entirely gone on walking (it’s much better today) then try a few short runs and see. Carrying on with strength and cross training is really important so I’ll be really focusing on that. Hopefully next week will be better!

So this week:

Hit strength hard! 2x gym 2x Pilates

Daily physio exercises including stretching

Walk/swim as appropriate

Thank you! Monday was a bit of a low point (hence the big old whinge!) but after a few days, it’s more positive. The pain has calmed right down again and I’ve had a few good classes at the gym. Plus new shoes. Who isn’t cheered up by new shoes?!!

I’ll get there. The timing is out of my control but the end goal is still the same. Patience, patience!

ooo, new shoes…now that’s even put a smile on my face!!! 😊 patience is a virtue so they say x

You are a busy lady Mummycav , thanks for taking the time to host this with so much going on.

My Quest, to run further than last month's rather underachieving 13.85km in the whole of April, is unsurprisingly pretty much on track. I've done 11.38 km this month so one more run and I've achieved it. With all the travelling it's not been easy to find a time or indeed a place to run but at least I'm roughly doing one a week. I can up the running once I settle back to normal life.

I'm just hoping that a few days at home will sort our my seized up limbs so I can get out in my beloved countryside and clock up a few more km.

Hello Mummycav and fellow questers. Hope you're well. I wish your sister in law a speedy recovery and well done on managing all that juggling! Thanks for managing to fit us in. My quests in week two have gone as follows:

1) YES - carry on running 2/3 times a week - did 3 runs

2) YES - run at least one 5k each week - did my first parkrun in 6 months

3) YES - do at least one parkrun this month

4) NO - do my physio exercises at least 4 times a week - haven't done them at all

I think I am definitely on the mend. Only one of my runs had a slight increase in pain but that decreased again on the following run so the trend is looking positive.🤗
