Yesterday was definitely the 13th, if not a Friday (Hidden definitely knows what I'm on about).
We were supposed to be catching the ferry back to France in the morning so I was up at 6 and by 7.10 was on the point of leaving the house. We then got a call to say that the work that was scheduled on our boat couldn't take place due to strikes. No point in going, the weather over there was rubbish and if the strikes are that disruptive we probably wouldn't have much fun. Having showered and dressed I didn't feel like getting changed and running, but the upside was that having had such an early (for me) start I had a very productive day.
This morning it all went to plan. Sunshine, a pleasant breeze, not much mud on the path. I decided to try another 3km and see if it was easier than my last run. I was a few seconds slower but I put this down to stopping to take a picture of my husband the river (that's him in his yellow shirt!). I didn't feel so tired at the end so, all being well, I'll try 4km next time, and once I'm comfortable at 5km I'll go back to the NRC 10km plan guided runs.
I've noticed something. I always do the same cool down stretches after my run. Before I lie down to do the bridge exercise I habitually check my heart rate. It's normally just above 100bpm, but since the infection it's been much higher, 124-130 bpm. Also, instead of 3-4 deep breaths bringing my HR down to below 100bpm I'm having to spend a lot longer getting there. I'm keeping an eye on this as it suggests that maybe my lungs are still a bit affected and not delivering oxygen to my heart as efficiently as they should. Anyone know anything about this stuff?
