Despite yesterday's heatwave we were determined to run, so we eventually went at about 8 - it will still so hot though! I think 25 degrees or more when we left!
I felt quite tired, so it was a bit of a struggle, but still doable. I guess not every run is the same, and yesterday's was a bit harder. We didn't bring our phones, so no distance, pace, or any other metric. I think around 6 or 7k? I'm not sure though. This was the first run since my Sunday 10k so i was a bit scared I'd be too tired / my body wasn't up to it! That definitely wasn't the case but I am looking forward to it cooling down again. I also foam rolled before and after which I think helped.
Also what are other graduates of the Magic plan doing? I want to consolidate for quite a while, but I do like plans and want to know what the options are.

Well done for getting out again. I think this bit is actually the most exciting now. Do you run because you just enjoy it and want to keep ticking over? Do you want to increase through 7, 8 and 9 miles to reach 10? Will a HM be in the distance?
So many options and opportunities for you. Would you like to try heart rate/slower runs? Personally, I loved this bit because I was able to go with how I felt and my running took me wherever I wanted to go really. I think the main thing is to be consistent and go out 2/3/4 times a week (whatever suits) and go from there. You've given yourself a brilliant platform to go off from 😊
thank you for this! yes actually thinking about all of this is exciting
I definitely can't imagine myself running a HF that sounds crazy... then again 10k 2 months ago would have also sounded crazy! I would like to up my distance, because then these (relatively) shorter distance would seem easier I think. 10 miles I think could be the next goal!
True I also think consistency is key! Thats why for me I need a plan because if not I know when winter comes and its raining outside my motivation will leave. Maybe I'll try and find a 10 mile plan or something and roughly stick to it
I tell you, the winter running is the best!!! Dark nights, rain or sleet is absolutely the best feeling. Each week just map out the days you will run so you know and everyone else does too. If it's easy to stick to, it'll become a habit and habits are hard to break. I don't even think you need a plan either! Just add a bit to your long run each week and you'll get there. The shorter runs do get easier. I can't really go less than 5m now in any run as I don't feel satiated. You're doing awesome so explore whatever you want. Distance always sounds scary but remember that 'what you're looking for is where you're looking from.'
you're so motivational! Personally I've never run in the winter (never tried) because I've always been put off!! Thats why I'm hoping to make it stick this year but I am looking forward to it being colder for running. Yes I might just add on a k every week or so and soon enough I'll be running longer distances (hopefully!)
It's a pleasure 😊 you really will. Starting the programme last November meant that dark, cold and rainy nights were my constant companion. The sense of achievement after though really is something else. I will it to be cold and wet now. All these types of runs make you bullet proof. I can't wait to watch your journey unfold 😊
Wow well done for managing a run in yesterday's heat! I postponed mine until this morning, I really cannot cope with the higher temperatures 🥵 I think there's a half marathon forum so they may have a similar plan to the magic plan there? Maybe also look at the training plans on Garmin or NRC, they look quite good and would add some structure 🙂
ahh thank you! yes I must say I struggled - but in my mind it was okay because i knew it was because of the heat! HF sounds sooo far away form where I am right now!! though maybe I'll check out the forum to see where the people are at.
