Since I have been home the rehab started off quite well with just a very nervous local 10 minute walk on the Sunday, under guidance from the Hospital rehab team .
I then needed to miss a few days as I had local doctors appointments and tests to sort out which would mean a fair bit of walking (I was not allowed to drive at this stage)
The rehab team's suggestion was for me to get out (or inside) over the next few weeks and walk 5 or 6 days a week gradually building up to 40 minute walks increasing the duration weekly.
I got to the stage where I had done 4 or 5 40 minute walks when I was thrown off track with a bout of plantar Fasciitis (I have had this before, several years ago).
So after missing a couple of days I then decided to go for a bike ride instead .
On the day this felt fine, although a little wobbly.
But the next day it was clear that I had now hurt my back !
I could barely move , just trying to bend or sit down or then stand up again was extremely painful.
To make it even more frustrating, the sister on the rehab team had told me only the day before that they were happy for me to restart C25k when I was 6 weeks post procedure .
That is Today.
My plan was to restart the programme from week 1 run 1 starting next Monday.
That now has totally gone out of the window.
I now have an appointment with my sports physio next Tuesday evening.
My back is feeling somewhat better but still some way to go and still requiring painkillers and I would like a green light from the physio's and to have done another week of walks before I restart the programme.
So that is the plan going forward but with delay .
There is no way I will restart untill the rehab team, the Physio and myself are totally happy.
So at the moment it's a bit of a waiting game .
Once again, thank you for the messages ๐

Sorry about your back Ian delaying you on restarting C25K, just be patient and don't start again until your physio and yourself are totally happy, just go short walks, good luck.
oh how awful for you, you obviously needed a bit more rest really, it must be so frustrating not to even be able to walk alot and bike ride, slow short walks for you Mr, take it easy as its not worth the risk, you will soon get there โค๏ธ
Oh blimey, I expect you hurt your back because maybe you hadn't cycled for a while. That said, it's really positive that the rehabilitation team is happy for you to restart cto5k! All in good time. I'm sure you'll be pounding the paths again (slowly!) before too long. Good luck and take care of yourself.
Thank you ! ๐And my lower back has been a weak spot for quite a few years when my mother was here I tried to hold her up to stop her falling and it's been a recurring problem since then but yes, I agree probably brought on as I'd not cycled for quite some time
You sound like you have your plan of action in place and thatโs a good thing. Itโs crazy to think just 6 weeks after a HA youโre good to start the ct5k programme and all being well you will be on your way soon enough. Good luck ๐
You know what I feel... so all I will say, is rest up, stay patient, stay chilled, and know that the end result of this, will be a glorious if slow and steady return to the running that you love so much.
No pressure, no hassle, just you and that gorgeous feline heading to the starting line. We are all right there beside you... xxx
Sorry, I never realised you had a heart attack. You have Been doing well in the walking , and I am with you on backs. Got 2 stress fractures on mine so walking as well. Hope you get back to your running shortly and your back gets help from physio.
You are having a tough time of it! But good on you for having a plan - something to look forward to ๐.Gorgeous picture of Misty - I hope she is being supportive and understands that it is not all about her?! ๐คฃ๐
Ahh Instructor, youโve been through the mill alright. You deserve some good fortune, so hopefully with the upcoming better weather, a cooperative back and of course the all clear from your physio, you can start C25K again and start your journey back to where you want to be.
So sorry to hear what you have been going through instructor57, but itโs great to hear that once you get your back sorted you will be able to restart c25k. Fingers crossed you have had your 3 bad things now and everything will be on the up again.
I'm glad your back is a little better, even though it is still not right. PF is very painful too, and I totally understand how you feel, you think you are doing the right things, but then parts of your body say no...I hope it won't be too much longer before all is well and you have that green light. You have been through so much, stay patient, be kind to yourself, running will wait as you well know.
Thanks Jan for your kind message ๐I guess I shouldn't complain, I've actually come a long way in the last 6 weeks from what happened , what's another week or so !
Backs are fickle things, arenโt they! Bummer, that yours seems to now throw more spannerโs into the works!
But your determination jumps off the page! Sending you loads of patience with your body! Patience and determination in equal measure! Stay strong! ๐ช๐๐
Oh my goodness Ian, I have just followed your link - and am so sorry for all you have been through. I must have missed all this, coming on here less frequently these days.
So glad to hear you are now slowly rebuilding your strength - but the path is never straightforward, is it? Use all that expert advice from your rehab team, who I am sure will see you back to your running - when the time is right.
And yes, this running โthingโ clearly makes us stronger and indeed saves lives - as you have proved. ๐๐
I am sure Misty is looking after you - beautiful as ever too! ๐๐ป
Acchhh life's a b***er at times isn't it! Patience my man. You will get there. It is all waiting for you, going nowhere. And you will beat all these contrivances. You will ๐
Oh my days ๐ฒjust one thing after another ๐คฆ๐ปโโ๏ธ After all those running miles you get PF from walking! You couldnโt write it! ๐คท๐ปโโ๏ธ. Hope the back and feet sort them selves soon and you can get back to recovering your fitness
Best made plans sometimes have to change even if itโs so annoying!! Hope the back improves and you are back soon probably in time for the better weather.
Oh my word you've been through a lot, I just read your first post as I must have missed it. Sorry this has happened and that your back is preventing you running now, but it must be your body saying not yet.... it sounds like you're being really sensible and focused. Love that photo of your cat! She has great balance skills! ๐
You poor thing! Iโm glad to hear you are recovering from your February ordeal. I hope the Sports physio works some magic for you and youโll be back on the C25k journey again soon. Best wishes x
Oh no, how annoying that you could have restarted a day later. Sorry your back is now playing up. At least you can still get out for short walks and are keeping a sense of humour. Hope you're back on the C25K track soon.
Well I don't know how I missed your original post but as others have said 'I thought you' d been quiet'. So sorry to hear that and your other complications halting your progress to running again. All the best to you Instructor57 ๐
How frustrating for you but Iโm glad youโre being sensible and waiting for the green light. Look forward to hearing about your C25K restart when youโre ready. Take care ๐
I know, feels never ending atm.... But !I'm sure it will in time as you say , patience๐ค
Misty is extremely nosey !
She had been watching another cat approaching the house and a few seconds after that picture she leapt off the sofa and darted out through the cat flap to chase it off ๐
Oh bloomin eck. Really sorry about your bad back. Itโs so frustrating when this sort of thing happens and it can really test your patience. Is there any strength and flex stuff you can be getting on with for now? I hope you recover swiftly and your cat is so cute!
From my previous experience, the recovery from a "cardiac event" is a long frustrating process. Still, you seem to have the "takes as long as it takes" mindset which I think helps a lot.
I must remember that because I, too am restarting that process.
