After almost five weeks away and one short run done, I went to the park run on Saturday. That particular course floods easily and I turned up unprepared to run through a LOT of flooded paths. It was totally horrid! Needless to say, I didn’t do well and it sapped me energy and confidence, but I did complete it.
Fast forward to this morning, a gorgeous sunny day and I’d planned to run with a new running buddy (someone I met at the park run recently) on a beautiful route. We started off with a brisk 5 minute walk and saw all the lovely wild garlic too. Then into the park and beyond. My running buddy really helps me to push myself more and we did just under three miles in about 35 minutes!
I’m feeling really happy about this and feeling much more positive than after my park run. Onwards!

That looks like a great running route. Having a buddy is brilliant! I sometimes run with MrU. He’s a newbie but with long legs so I’ve got to push a bit to keep up with him! That must have been such a confidence boost to cover the three miles in such a quick time. I can’t wait to hear how your parkrun goes!
Thanks, as always, for your encouraging comments! I usually run alone so it does feel very different to run with someone else, but she is very experienced and really helps me to keep going.
I’m hoping that the weather stays nice and dry so the park run route dries up a lot.
Wild garlic in the garden really would smother everything, must be difficult to manage. But along the path that I frequently tread it is just starting to flower and looks magical!
oooof, that park run sounds like my idea of a nightmare!!! I don’t like park run at the best of times but well done you for keeping going!!! I’d have skulked off into the bushes and made a sneaky escape!!!
What a treat to find a running buddy there though, sounds like you really made up for it & took advantage of the lovely sunshine, sounds perfect 🤩
